2021 Yamaha RayZR 125 Hybrid & Street Rally 125 Hybrid Launched In India At Rs 76,830

Yamaha launches the 2021 Yamaha RayZR 125 Hybrid and the 2021 Yamaha Street Rally 125 Hybrid scooters in India. New scooters are priced at Rs 76,830 and Rs 83,830, (ex-showroom, India).

Both the scooters sport an engine start system, automatic start/stop system, side stand cut-off switch, multi-function key with seat opener, wider 110mm rear tyres and a large and practical 21-litre under-seat storage.

Powering the new 2021 Yamaha RayZR 125 Fi Hybrid and the 2021 Yamaha Street Rally 125 Fi Hybrid scooters the same 125cc blue core engine which now produces a respectable 8.2PS of power at 6500rpm and 10.3Nm of torque at 5000rpm.

Though these numbers may not seem like much on paper, the low kerb weight of 99kgs can counteract the deficiency of outright power with a better Power-to-Weight ratio. Another advantage of having a lower kerb weight is the positive impact on fuel efficiency by a considerable margin.

Speaking of efficiency, the Yamaha RayZR 125 Fi Hybrid and Street Rally 125 Fi Hybrid scooters come with a Smart Motor Generator (SMG) to further improve fuel efficiency.

According to Yamaha, the SMG functions as an electric motor to assist the internal combustion during the initial three seconds after start-out. For safety, the motor will cut the power delivery when the throttle is cut back or the engine rpm exceeds the 'prescribed level'.

An indicator on the uprated digital instrument console will notify the user whenever the Hybrid System is in operation, much like Yamaha's VVA indicator on the outgoing Yamaha R15.

Visually, almost all panels on the new Yamaha RayZR 125 Fi Hybrid and Street Rally 125 Fi Hybrid scooters look identical to the existing models. However, the new graphics and shades help freshen up the year-old design.

Apart from this, other changes include an upgraded headlight unit consisting of LED bulbs for illumination, an uprated fully digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity.
This new Bluetooth connectivity feature allows the user to connect to the new Yamaha RayZR 125 Fi Hybrid and Street Rally 125 Fi Hybrid scooters using Yamaha Motorcycle Connect-X App.

Through this mobile application, users can utilise various useful features such as 'Answer Back', 'Locate my Vehicle', 'Riding History', parking record, and hazard.

Both the scooters sport an engine start system, automatic start/stop system, side stand cut-off switch, multi-function key with seat opener, wider 110mm rear tyres and a large and practical 21-litre under-seat storage.

During the launch, Mr Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India group of companies said, "The launch of the Hybrid version of the new RayZR 125 FI and Street Rally 125 FI has allowed Yamaha to further expand its portfolio of Hybrid scooter offerings in India. After receiving immense response for the Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid, we are confident about further strengthening our position in the market, with these new offerings."

Thoughts about the new Yamaha RayZR 125 Fi Hybrid & Street Rally 125 Fi Hybrid scooters

When Yamaha introduced the RayZR 125 Fi and Street Rally 125 Fi scooters in India last year, many felt like Yamaha could have added few more features like a modern LED headlight unit and Bluetooth connectivity.
Now, with these added features and the hybridised powertrain, Yamaha has two strong contenders in the 125cc segment that will cater to the younger audience.
