Yezdi Delux 1987 Model Modified To Look Like The Jawa Perak: Details

An owner of a retro, vintage 1987 Yezdi Delux has modified his motorcycle to make it look the modern day Jawa Perak. Mr Manjunath bought the 1987 model, and had it modified by a Mr Shamsher Ahmed for a grand total of Rs 1.5 lakh.

The modified Yezdi Delux features all the two-stroke mechanicals, but looks fairly modern. It features a similar matte blackish-grey paints scheme and a tan coloured seat as of the Jawa Perak, as one can see from images posted via Instagram.

Mr Manjunath said that quite a few components had to be locally fabricated. While the modification job does not look as polished as the factory built Jawa Perak, it does stand out, and does look like something modern Perak could have been inspired by.

The modern Jawa Perak was launched roughly a month ago, and is now open for bookings. Launched at Rs 1.95 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the bobber style motorcycle has generated a lot of interest. So much so that Jawa says that their website crashed because of the sheer volume of traffic.

The Jawa Perak is powered by a 334cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder engine that produces 30bhp of power and 31Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.

The Perak however, sprang during the days of Ideal Jawa India Ltd. - the company that manufactured two-stroke Jawa and Yezdi models at its Mysore facility between early 1960 until 1996.

The old Jawa 350 had a 344cc air-cooled two-stroke engine good for a humble 14bhp and was mated to a 4-speed gearbox.
