Yamaha R15, MT-15 & FZ Models Price Increase Announced In India: Here Are All Details
Yamaha Motor India has silently hiked the prices of select motorcycles from its line-up in India. These include the YZF-R15, the MT-15, FZ15 and FZS range of models. The new prices have been updated on the company's website.
The reason for the price hike is yet to be known from the brand, and it ranges between Rs 500 to Rs 1,000. However, we believe the increase in costs are because of the current market condition due to the on-going Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
Talking about the price increase in detail, the Yamaha R15 V3.0 is sold in three colour options, all of which have received a price increase. The top-variant R15 Racing Blue colour gets the maximum price hike of Rs 1,000. The motorcycle in that paint scheme now retails at Rs 1,46,900, ex-showroom, Delhi.
The Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 is powered by a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing a maximum power of 18.3bhp at 10,000rpm and a peak torque of 14.1Nm at 8,500rpm. The engine comes mated to a standard six-speed gearbox with slipper assisted clutch. Other features include all-LED headlamps, a fully digital instrument cluster, USB charger, and dual-channel ABS; among others.
Moving to the Yamaha MT-15, the street-naked motorcycle is based on the R15 model in the brand's line-up. The MT-15 borrows its cycle parts and the engine from its fully-faried sibling. Prices for the street-naked motorcycle have been increased by Rs 500. The MT-15 now retails at a price of Rs 1,39,900, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Last but not the least, the smaller capacity Yamaha FZ motorcycles have also been affected with the price increase. The Yamaha FZ-Fi and the FZS-Fi are now priced at Rs 99,700 and Rs 1,01,200, respectively. Both motorcycles have been increased by Rs 500.
Both motorcycles come powered by the same 149cc single-cylinder BS-VI compliant engine. It produces a maximum power of 12bhp at 7250rpm and a peak torque of 13.6Nm at 5500rpm, and comes mated to a five-speed gearbox.
In related news, Yamaha Motor India is gearing up to launch the BS6 FZ 25 and the FZS 25 once the nation-wide lockdown has been completely lifted in the country. However, the company has teased both the motorcycle ahead of its launch revealing a couple of new changes — here are more details.
Thoughts About Yamaha Motorcycles Price Increase Announced In India
The price increase announced on the entire range of motorcycles is marginal. It should affect sales of the motorcycle in the country as well. Whether other motorcycles in the brand's line-up will receive a similar price increase remains to be seen.
