Yamaha Might Launch The WR 155R Off-Roader In India Next Year
Yamaha introduced the WR155R off-road motorcycle (which is the smallest under the WR range) in Indonesia last year and the deliveries have already commenced. The off-roader shared the same engine seen on the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0.
According to Zigwheels, the company is planning to bring the WR 155R to the Indian shores soon. The company is currently studying our market and if there is positive feedback, then Yamaha might launch it next year. There is another factor involved which is the pricing and if the company can price it competitively, then its a green signal.
As we mentioned earlier, the Yamaha WR 155R shares the same engine seen on the YZF-R15 V3.0 but in a different state of tune. The 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine produces 16bhp of power (18bhp on the YZF-R15 V3.0) and 14.3 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a six-speed gearbox.
The WR155R is based on a completely different platform and is underpinned by a semi-double-cradle frame with 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels. The motorcycle gets 41 mm front forks and a preload-adjustable gas-charged rear mono-shock. Braking duties are handled by a 240 mm single disc at the front and 220 mm disc at the rear.
However, the international-spec model does not get ABS, while we would expect a single-channel unit of India. The Yamaha WR 155R gets a seat height of 888mm seat height, which is really tall for average size people to ride and an 8.1-litre fuel tank, which is considerably small. It also gets 245mm of ground clearance.
If the WR 155R launches in India then it will fill the gap between the Hero XPulse 200 and the RE Himalayan BS6. The motorcycle is slightly powerful than the XPulse and way lighter than the Himalayan (the WR 155R just weighs 134kgs).
Thoughts On The Yamaha WR 155R Off-Roader
Well, since the craze of off-roading is rapidly increasing in our country because people want to explore more and more, we think that Yamaha might just launch the WR 155R in India. Once launched, the motorcycle will have a lot of fan following in our country.
