Vespa BS6 Scooter Range Launched in India: Prices Start At Rs 93,035
Vespa BS6 scooters have been launched in the Indian market. The BS6 scooters are now available at a starting price of Rs 93,035 ex-showroom (Delhi).
The retro-design scooters are available with two engine options and in seven variants. The top-of-the-line Vespa 149 SXL BS6 is priced at Rs 1,26,650 ex-showroom (Delhi).

The company had earlier confirmed that they will replace the larger capacity 150cc engine with the new BS6 compliant 149cc engine. The engine now produces 10bhp and 10.6Nm of torque. In comparison, the BS4 engine produced 10bhp and 10.9Nm of torque. The peak power output on the BS6 model is produced higher in the rev range as compared to the BS4 model.
Vespa's 125cc engine has been carried forward to achieve BS6 compliance. The engine now produces 9.7bhp and 9.6Nm of torque. In comparison, the BS4 engine produced 9.5bhp and 9.9Nm of torque. Both engines now feature fuel-injection as standard.
Apart from the engine, all other features are carried forward on the BS6 models. The entry-level Vespa Urban Club continues to feature round-shaped headlight, and instrument cluster adding to the scooter's retro looks.
The Vespa 125 SXL is the top-spec variant in the 125cc category. The scooter features a rectangular-shaped headlight, LED headlamp, a digital instrument cluster, five-spoke black alloy wheels, and other premium features.
The 149cc scooters are available in two variants: the Vespa VXL and the SXL. The entry-level VXL features a round-shaped LED headlamp, a digital instrument cluster, and a visor. While the SXL features a rectangular-shaped headlight and other features are similar to the VXL variant.
All Vespa scooter features the same suspension setup across the range. This includes a single side-arm setup at the front and a dual hydraulic shock absorber at the rear. The braking equipment is different depending on the variant.
The Vespa Urban Club and the LX feature a 149mm drum brake at the front and a 140mm drum brake at the rear. While the SXL, the VXL, and the ZX variants feature a 200mm ventilated disc brakes at the front and a 140mm drum brakes at the rear. All 125cc Vespa scooters are offered with a combined braking system, while the 149cc scooters feature a single-channel ABS for additional safety.
Thoughts About The Vespa BS6 Scooters Launched In India
Vespa has launched their scooters with a delay in the Indian market. The dealy could have been caused due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in the country. The new increased power output on the larger 149cc engine should offer better performance as compared to its BS4 models.
