Valentino Rossi Tests Positive For Covid-19: To Miss Aragon Grand Prix
The seven-time MotoGP champion, Valentino Rossi, has announced that he has been tested positive for Covid-19 virus on October 15, 2020. The world champion broke the sad news on his Instagram account.
The Yamaha MotoGP factory rider had gone through the ‘quick PCR test' after his arrival from the Le Mans GP last week. The test came out negative, yet the champ decides to self-quarantine and follows the protocols issued by the GP organizers.
However, he was feeling unwell and weak with a slight fever on Thursday and decided to call the doctor. Rossi was tested twice with the same test done earlier. Although the first one came negative, the final test declared the world champion positive for Covid-19 virus.
Vale's post on Instagram said, "Unfortunately, this morning I woke up and I was not feeling good. My bones were sore and I had a slight fever. So, I immediately called the doctor who tested me twice. The ‘quick PCR test' result was negative, just like the test I underwent on Tuesday. But the second one, of which the result was sent to at 16:00 this afternoon, was unfortunately positive."
As a result of testing positive for Coronavirus, Valentino Rossi will be missing out on the upcoming Aargon GP held in Spain. He will also be missing the Teruel GP, which will be held on the same track next weekend.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, organizers Moto GP decided to keep the racing restricted to European tracks and to get more races on board, most tracks will have back-to-back races.
He further said, "I am so disappointed that I will have to miss the race at Aragon. I would like to be optimistic and confident, but I expect the second round in Aragon to be a ‘no go' for me as well."
Over the years, Aragon GP has seen some close racing from the world champion battling it out to take the podium place. We look back to on one famous race from the 2015 season of the Moto GP. Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa riding for factory Honda gave us some thrilling action as they battled for second place. In the end, the Honda man came on top despite Rossi giving his best.
He also mentioned on his Instagram post that he is sad and angry because of testing positive for the infection. He had followed all the protocols issued by the organizers yet the champ is infected with the deadly virus.
"I am sad and angry because I did my best to respect the protocol and although the test I had on Tuesday was negative, I self-isolated since my arrival from Le Mans. Anyway, this is the way it is, and I can't fo anything to change the situation. I will now follow the medical advice, and I just hope I will be feeling well soon," Valentino Rossi added.
Valentino Rossi has had DNFs from the last three consecutive GPs. As a result, the 41-year old Italian racer is currently 13th in the world championship standings. With him not taking part on the next two races in this season, the world championship hopes for the Yamaha factory rider is very slim.
Thoughts About The Valentino Rossi Tests Positive For Covid-19
The ongoing pandemic has turned the world up-side-down for the most part, especially for motorsport organizers. MotoGP has been operating with tight restrictions to curb the spread of COVID-19 virus. However, the virus spread has been very unpredictable and rapid. We wish a speedy recovery to ‘The Doctor' and hope to see him soon back in the paddock.
