Triumph Motorcycles has teased the new Tiger 900 on its social media channels. This indicates that the company is going to launch the adventure motorcycle soon in India. Moreover, the new Tiger 900, which will replace the Tiger 800, was listed on the company's official website.

The Tiger 800, in India, was available in two variants: XR and XC. However, the new Tiger 900 is likely to be available in the GT and Rally variants. Globally the new Tiger 900 will be available in six variants - Tiger 900, Tiger 900 GT, Tiger 900 GT Low, Tiger 900 GT Pro, Tiger 900 Rally and the top-spec Tiger 900 Rally Pro.

There's a lot that's gone into the Tiger 900 and the motorcycle gets a new engine and a better electronics package. Powering the Triumph Tiger 900 is a new BS6 compliant 888cc inline three-cylinder engine. The new engine produces 94bhp of power and 87Nm of peak torque (94bhp and 79Nm on the Tiger 800).

However, in the Tiger 900, the peak torque kicks in at 7250rpm, while it used to peak at 8050rpm on the older models. The new Tiger also has a deeper exhaust note, thanks to the new 1-3-2 firing order (1-2-3 on the Tiger 800).

The new Tiger 900 will also get safety and electronic features such as an IMU-based ABS system, will feature ABS co-developed with Continental, a bi-directional quick shifter, six riding modes - Rain, Rider, Road, Sport, Off-Road, and Off-Road Pro, and the My Triumph connectivity module as standard on the pro trims.

The Tiger 900 GT gets the Marzocchi suspension units and the Rally Pro version gets the Showa suspension setup. Braking duties on Both motorcycles are handled by Brembo Stylema calipers with a twin-disc setup at the front and a single disc at the rear.

Triumph Motorcycles India recently also launched the 2020 Street Triple RS in the Indian market. The new Street Triple RS has been priced at Rs 11.13 lakh, ex-showroom (India). The motorcycle now is powered by a 765cc in-line three-cylinder unit which now produces 121bhp at 11,750rpm and 79Nm of peak torque at 9,350rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox with up/down quickshifter as standard, along with a slip and assist clutch.

Thoughts About The New Tiger 900

Since the 800s were priced between the Rs 12 to 15.2 lakh ex-showroom mark, we expect the Triumph Tiger 900 to carry a price tag between Rs 13.5 to 16 lakh ex-showroom. Once launched, the Tiger 900 will go up against the likes of the Ducati Multistrada 950 and the BMW F 750 and F 850 GS range.
