Triumph Street Triple R Launched In India: Priced At Rs 8.84 Lakh
Triumph Motorcycles India launch the Street Triple R motorcycle in the Indian market. The new street-naked performance motorcycle is priced at Rs 8.84 lakh, ex-showroom (India). Bookings for the motorcycle has already started ahead of launch.
The Street Triple R model is now the base variant of the naked-motorcycle line-up in the country. It features new body graphics, restyled rear-view mirrors, redesigned exhaust and two new colour options: Sapphire Black and Matt Silver Ice.
The Street Triple R will be powered by the same Moto 2 derived 765cc, in-line three-cylinder engine as the RS variant, however, with a slightly lower state of tune. The engine produces a maximum power of 118bhp at 12,000rpm and a peak torque of 79Nm at 9,400rpm.
In comparison to the Street Triple RS's power and torque figures, the ‘R' produces around 3bhp less. The engine on the R comes mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slip-assisted clutch.
Other mechanical hardware on the Street Triple R also gets downgraded as compared to the RS variant. It only features an LCD with an analogue tachometer as compared to a TFT colour display on the top-spec model. Other features include three riding modes, ABS, traction control, and a two-way quick shifter.
However, the overall design and silhouette of the motorcycle remain the same as that of the top-specs RS variant. It continues to feature an aggressive-looking frontend with twin-pod LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs. It also features a muscular tank and an upright handlebar making for a comfortable riding position.
Suspension duties on the upcoming motorcycle are handled by a 41mm forks at the front and a mono-shock setup at the rear, both of which are sourced from Showa and are fully-adjustable. Braking on the motorcycle is done via 310mm disc brake at the front and a 220mm at the rear, supported by dual-channel ABS. The motorcycle comes shod with Pirelli performance tyres as well.
The company has undergone a significant shift in the motorcycle's portfolio after the introduction of the 765cc engine. For years the Street Triple R was the top-spec variant in the company's line-up. However, it was changed, when Triumph introduced a new range-topping Triumph Street Triple RS back in 2017.
Thoughts About The Triumph Street Triple R Launched In India
The Triumph Street Triple line-up has been a definitive naked motorcycle for the brand and the new motorcycle is priced very aggressively by the brand. The Street Triple R will cater to the audience who are looking for an affordable upgrade and step into the premium motorcycle segment. The Triumph Street Triple R will rival the newly launched BMW F 900 R, and the Kawasaki Z900; among others in the Indian market.
