Suzuki Discontinues All Superbikes From Its India Lineup: Awaiting BS6 Update Soon
Suzuki Motorcycles India has removed its entire big bikes lineup from their official website. With the new stringent BS6 emission norms being implemented from the 1st of April, sales of all BS4 vehicles have been banned in the country.
All the superbikes listed on Suzuki's official website were BS4 compliant, which meant they couldn't be sold in the country. Hence, the company has updated the website, removing all the big bikes from their portfolio.
The big bikes list from Suzuki in India included the V-Strom 650, GSX-S750, GSX-S1000, GSX-SF1000, GSX-R1000, V-Strom 1000 and the Hayabusa. Among this list, Suzuki has confirmed the fate of two motorcycles, the V-Strom 650 and the Hayabusa.
Talking about the iconic motorcycle first, the Hayabusa. Suzuki has confirmed that the model will be permanently discontinued from the brand's product portfolio. The motorcycle will not receive any BS6 update in the near future. However, Suzuki is said to be working on an all-new next-generation version of the iconic superbike. This new motorcycle will be introduced, both globally and in India only by 2022.
The other motorcycle on the list is the V-Strom 650. Suzuki has already confirmed the motorcycle for a BS6 update. In fact, the Suzuki V-Strom 650 CT is the only big bike from the brand to be listed on the website. The company released a teaser of the BS6-compliant V-Strom 650 XT on the website recently, indicating a launch in the coming weeks.
Apart from these two motorcycles, the future of the remaining models is yet to be confirmed. Suzuki has not released any official information as to which model will receive an update.
Thoughts About Suzuki Discontinuing Its entire Superbike Lineup In India
Suzuki Motorcycles has sold a number of big bikes in India, many of which have been on sale for a long time now. With the new stringent emission norms now implemented, Suzuki has updated the website, removing all the BS4 models. While we do expect some of the big bikes to be introduced back with an update, we are still waiting for an official confirmation from Suzuki themselves.
