Suzuki Motorcycle Launches Lock Down Initiative: Caters For Three Villages Near Gurugram Facility

Japanese motorcycle manufacturer, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd., has started lending a helping hand to local communities and migrant workers during the current lock down in the country.

The company has started serving meals catering to three villages that are close to its manufacturing facility at Kheri Dhaula, near Gurugram in Haryana. Suzuki's initiative aims at helping contractual workers, labourers, locals, and families at these villages during the lock down.

Mr Koichiro Hirao, the Managing Director at Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd. said, "The whole nation has come together to fight the Covid-19 pandemic and it is our responsibility to support and help each other in such difficult times. People across the country have shown exemplary courage and spirit by staying at home during the nationwide lockdown to defeat the spread of coronavirus."

"Adding to Government's on-going initiatives to ensure availability of essential items, it's everyone's unified and extended efforts that will help fight it resiliently. SMIPL is determined to take all possible measures in that direction and we are pleased to start the initiative of providing food packets to the displaced individuals/workers/families during the pandemic," he added.

Suzuki Motorcycle India has also suspended production at it's Gurugram manufacturing facility until further notice. The company says that the decision to suspend production was taken in order to ensure safety and well-being of its employees and stakeholders.

The two-wheeler manufacturer also initiated its 'Work from Home' policy for employees not involved in maintaining essential services as a precautionary measure in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In Suzuki related news, the brand launched the BS6 compliant Suzuki Intruder 150 recently. The motorcycle remains the same visually, but now features an updated 154.9cc engine that produces 13 brake horsepower and 13.8Nm of torque, and comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. To know more, click here.
