Royal Enfield Interceptor & Continental 650 BS6 Prices Revealed: Motorcycle Arrive At Dealerships
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT650 BS6 compliant models have arrived at the dealerships across India and deliveries will begin soon. Prices for both the motorcycles are revealed and they get a significant increase in their pricing as compared to the BS4 models.
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT650 are the company's flagship models. The Interceptor 650 BS6 has received a price increase of around Rs 8,000, while the Continental GT 650 BS6 costs around Rs 9,000 more than its BS4 counterpart.
Most two-wheelers manufacturers are using a pre-catalytic converter installed on the exhaust-bend pipe as part of achieving BS6 compliance with their motorcycles. However, Royal Enfield has integrated the pre-cat inside the exhaust. This results in the BS6 motorcycles looking the same without any difference in its appearance as compared to its BS4 version.
Apart from the parallel-twin cylinder achieving BS6 compliance, both motorcycles remain the same and continue to feature the same mechanical and electrical components.
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT650 are powered by the same 649cc air and oil-cooled, parallel-twin-cylinder engine. It produces peak power of 47bhp at 7,250rpm and a peak torque of 52Nm at 5,250rpm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox, with slipper-clutch assisted. We expect the power and torque figures to remain the same for BS6 models as well.
The suspension duties on both the motorcycles are handled by a 41mm forks at the front and twin-gas charged shocks at the rear with 5-step adjust for pre-load damping. The braking on the motorcycle is done through a 320mm disc at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear with dual-channel ABS offered as standard. Both motorcycles feature 18-inch spoked wheels shod with Pirelli Phantom Sportcomp tyres at both ends.
The Interceptor 650 offers a more relaxed and upright riding position, however, the Continental GT 650 with its long tank design and clip-on handlebars features a more aggressive riding position.
Thoughts About The Royal Enfield Interceptor & Continental 650 BS6 Prices Revealed
The Royal Enfield Interceptor & Continental 650 are important motorcycles to the Indian market. This is because riders could own a 650cc parallel-twin engine motorcycle for less than Rs 3.5 lakh on-road. Also, with the 650 twins, Royal Enfield achieved exceptional build quality and refinement resulting in impressive sales numbers registered by both the motorcycles. With the price increase of around Rs 8,000, the motorcycles are still the biggest bang for the buck you can get in the country.
