Royal Enfield Bullet Trails Discontinued In India: Sold For Less Than A Year
Royal Enfield Bullet Trials have been discontinued In India. Both the Bullet Trials 350 and the Bullet 500 models were on sale less than a year before it was discontinued in the Indian market.
According to Rushlane, both the motorcycles have now been discontinued. However, there is no official update from the company, regarding the reason behind motorcycles being discontinued. But, few dealers speculate that the reason could be because of low sales numbers registered by the motorcycles.
The Bullet Trials 350 and the Bullet 500 works replica models have been removed from the official website as well. Royal Enfield Bullet Trials 350 and the Bullet Trials 500 were launched last year retailing for Rs 1.62 lakhs and Rs 2.07 lakhs, ex-showroom (Delhi), respectively.
The Bullet Trails models were introduced in March 2019 by Royal Enfield to boost sales of their motorcycle. With an increase in sales of off-road adventure motorcycles in the Indian market, the company was confident that a new product will be more attractive to customers. However, the Bullet Trails motorcycle was targeted at a niche market and couldn't make a strong impact.
With a single seat on the Bullet Trails motorcycle, it lacked the basic practicality of a two-wheeler as well. However, as inventory continued to rise, some dealers came up with an idea to give the Trials motorcycles a makeover.
The makeover process saw the dealers adding a pillion seat and replacing the up-swept exhaust borrowed from their Classic motorcycle to make it more practical and marketed as the Classic Trails. This modification helped a few dealers to clear stock of RE Trials as it offered the exclusiveness of Trials motorcycles, all while making them a more viable option for Classic customers.
The Bullet Trials motorcycles were meant for off-roading and came equipped with some unique features including a dual-tone colour scheme. Other changes include a single-seat, shorter fenders, longer suspension, upswept exhaust pipe and higher set handlebar.
The Bullet Trials 350 was powered by a 346cc single-cylinder engine producing 19bhp and 28Nm torque, while the Bullet Trials 500 was powered by a 499 cc engine churning out 27bhp and 41.3Nm torque. Both engines come mated to a five-speed gearbox. Royal Enfield Trials motorcycles are being exported to different countries. It is unclear that the Chennai based two-wheeler manufacturer will continue to export these motorcycles.
Thoughts About The Royal Enfield Bullet Trails Discontinued In India
Royal Enfield offered a unique product catering to a niche market in India. However, the motorcycle fell short of making any real impact. But, it was certainly one of the lightest motorcycles from the RE's line-up and could tackle the tough terrains with ease. It was an option for buyers who were looking at an off-road motorcycle that was not Himalayan.
