One Electric Kridin Unveiled: Fastest Electric Motorcycle Made In India
Indian electric two-wheeler startup, One Electric Motorcycle, has unveiled its first electric motorcycle called the Kridin in the county. The nameplate Kridin is derived from Sanskrit, which translates to 'To Play' in English.
The Kridin motorcycle features a 5.5kW hub-mounted electric motor paired to a 3kWh lithium-ion battery. The electric powertrain produces a peak torque output of over 160Nm. It can accelerate from 0 to 60km/h in eight seconds and continue to reach a top speed of 95km/h.
It is claimed to be the fastest motorcycle that is Made-In-India because none of its rivals can reach a top speed of 95km/h at the time of its launch next month.
The motorcycle features two riding modes: Eco and Normal. In Eco mode, the motorcycle features a range of up to 110 kilometres, while on Normal mode it can travel a maximum of up to 80 kilometres. The charge times are rated between 4 and 5 hours for a full charge.
The Kridin motorcycle features a neo-retro design with round-shaped headlamps a long tank that houses the electronics, a single-piece flat seat, rear grab rails, up-right handlebar. Other features include an oval-shaped tail lamp and circular turn signal indicators. The round-shaped rear-view mirrors add to the retro styling of the motorcycle.
The headlamp is a halogen and so it the tail lamps. The motorcycle also features a fully-digital instrument console, (DRLs) Daytime Running Lights, a mobile phone holder. The company is also offering an optional connectivity feature with onboard navigation.
Suspension duties on the motorcycle are handled by a hydraulic telescopic fork at the front and twin-shock absorber setup at the rear. Braking is done via 240mm and 220mm disc brakes at the front and rear, respectively. The motorcycle also features a combine breaking system.
Gaurav Uppal, CEO of One Electric Motorcycle, said, "With high performance, we also wanted to make a motorcycle that lasts for many years. Suspension from Munjal Showa, wide tyres from CEAT, lighting from FIEM Industries, and in house developed heavy-duty chassis ensures this, along with making spares easily available." The motorcycle features 17-inch and 16-inch alloy wheels along with tubeless tyres at the front and rear, respectively.
Abhijeet Shah, COO One Electric Motorcycle, said, "By designing, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing everything from the ground up, we now can make fast modifications required for constant evolution. This is enabling us to make advancements easily on regular basis.
Looking forward, we can adapt any battery cell type or motor technology which are evolving at a fast pace, without worrying about the fitment issues. We believe this is going to enable us in creating cutting edge technology and realize our vision of being a global player for electric motorcycles."
The company plans to launch the electric motorcycle sometime next month and is expected to be priced Rs 1.29 lakhs, ex-showroom. However, the company also plans to launch a more affordable variant of the Kridin called the ‘R'.
The Kridin R will feature a lower-spec 2kW motor with a top speed of 75km/h. It is expected to arrive sometime during next year and is expected to be priced under the Rs 1 lakh mark. It will be primarily targeted towards last-mile connectivity, fleet operators and bike taxis.
