First Bajaj-Triumph Motorcycle India Launch Pushed To 2023: Here Are The Details!
Bajaj Auto and Triumph Motorcycles officially announced their partnership in early 2020. The two companies came together with the aim of developing a range of brand new mid-segment motorcycles for the global market.

The first motorcycle to come out of the partnership was initially scheduled for 2022. However, in a recent interview with ET Auto, Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto stated that the launch has been pushed to 2023. Bajaj said in the interview that the delay was because of the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic this year.

Having said that, Bajaj did also confirm that the two brands are working on trying to stick to the initial timeline. Bajaj said that if the situation and the market improve rapidly in 2021, then they might be able to manage the launch in 2022, as initially planned.

The JV between Triumph Motorcycles and Bajaj Auto will see the development of a number of new products ranging between 200 - 750cc. While Triumph will design and develop the motorcycles in England, the production will be handled by Bajaj Auto in India.

Triumph has also confirmed that there will be no Bajaj motorcycles based on the JV platform. The British bike maker is looking at establishing itself in cost-sensitive large-volume markets, such as South Asia and South America.

The first global model to come out of the Bajaj-Triumph joint venture is said to be a motorcycle in the 250 - 350cc segment. The motorcycle will rival the likes of the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Benelli Imperiale 400 and the Jawa Motorcycle offerings.

Triumph themselves are on an aggressive sales strategy in India, at least for the next six months. The British bike maker recently confirmed that they have plans to introduce nine new motorcycles in India over the course of the next six months.
The aggressive sales push will be started with the Trident 660 and the Tiger 850 models which are expected to go on sale within the first two months of 2021.

Thoughts On The Bajaj-Triumph Bike Launch Delay
Triumph Motorcycles is looking to establish itself as a major bike manufacturer even in the high-volume markets across the globe. The company is looking to take on Royal Enfield, who will be their main rivals once they enter the mid-range motorcycle segment not only in India but also a few other international markets as well.
