Mahindra Mojo BS6 Expected To Arrive This Month: Here Are All Details
Mahindra Two-Wheelers has confirmed the arrival of the Mojo BS6 motorcycles in the Indian market by the end of this month. The BS6 motorcycle is expected to remain similar to its BS4 counterpart, apart from an updated engine.
The Mahindra Mojo was introduced back in 2015. It became quite popular as one among the most sought out touring motorcycles in the price bracket. Although the motorcycle's design received a mix response, it was mostly positive because of the twin-headlamp setup.
The motorcycle tourers praised the Mojo for its relaxed riding stance, large fuel tank and also offered exception reliability as well. With all the positives to the Mojo, it failed to make a lasting impact with sales numbers in the Indian market.
To make the bike affordable and lighter, Mojo was sold in two variants: base-spec UT300 and the top-spec XT300. While most of the components remained the same between both models, the base-spec Mojo UT 300 was downgraded to a single side exhaust.
Last year, the Mahindra Mojo 300 ABS was introduced to offer the perfect balance between the previous two trims. However, the new motorcycle failed to register good sales figures for the brand and did not get much attention. This was also the time when Mojo's primary rival, the Bajaj Dominar 400 was upgraded with a much powerful engine.
As a result, people speculated that the company will shelf the Mojo and not make it BS6 compliant. According to Bikeadvice, the torturing motorcycle will be back on sale in the Indian market by the end of this month.
Details of the upcoming motorcycle are yet to be revealed, however, we expect the changes stay limited to engine update. The Mahindra Mojo BS4 model was powered by a 293cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. We expect the same engine to be carried forward to the Mojo BS6.
The BS4 engine produced a maximum power of 26bhp and a peak torque of 30Nm and came mated to a six-speed gearbox. We expect the power and torque figures to remain the same on the BS6 engine.
Other cycle parts such as suspension and the brakes are expected to be carried forward from the BS4 models. This includes a 320mm disc brake at the front and a 240mm disc brake at the rear, sourced from Bybre; supported by dual-channel ABS. Suspension duties on the motorcycle are expected to be handled by telescopic forks at the front, and a mono-shock suspension setup at the rear. The motorcycle is also expected to come shod with Pirelli Angel CT tyres.
Thoughts About The Mahindra Mojo BS6 Expected To Arrive This Month
The Mahindra Mojo is a capable motorcycle that offered exceptional quality, reliability and most importantly a comfortable riding position. The motorcycle was made for long journeys and became very popular among the rider community as well. However, it never sold in volumes and ended up becoming a niche motorcycle in the Indian market. We are glad that the motorcycle is coming back.
