The Kawasaki Ninja 650 and the Z650 BS6 motorcycles are open to pre-booking on the company's website. Both the motorcycles were scheduled to arrive in the Indian market during April. However, it has been delayed due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Dealerships have begun accepting bookings for the 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 650 and the Kawasaki Z650 that comply with the new emissions standards. The Kawasaki Ninja 650 and Z650 BS6 motorcycles also feature a host of upgrades over its BS4 counterparts.

Kawasaki had unveiled the Z650 BS6 during December last year and is expected to retail between Rs 6.25 lakh and 6.50 lakh, while the 2020 Ninja 650 was confirmed early this year and is expected to cost between Rs 6.65 lakh and 6.79 lakh. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom.

Talking about the changes on the 2020 Kawasaki Z650 BS6, the motorcycles feature a new headlamp cowl that is inspired by its elder sibling the Z900 motorcycles from the company's line-up. With the new front fascia, the Z650 BS6 motorcycles feature a more aggressive and sharp design as compared to the older model.

The upcoming naked motorcycle also features LED headlamps, a new TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity for pairing your smartphone. It also features the company's ‘Riderlogy' mobile application to enhance the connected feature experience and offer a host of information including the onboard rider telemetry.

The Z650 BS6 will continue to be powered by the 649cc parallel-twin engine. It produces a peak power of 67.3bhp at 8000rpm, and a peak torque of 64Nm at 6700rpm. In comparison, the BS4 engine churned out 67.2bhp and 65.7Nm. The engine will continue to come mated to a six-speed gearbox.

While its fully-faired sibling the 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 650 BS6 also features a few design revisions. It now features a new sharper and aggressive-looking fairing with a redesigned fuel tank and tail section. The twin headlamps now get full-LED treatment.

Another major upgrade includes a 4.3-inch TFT screen for the instrument cluster. It features Bluetooth connectivity and the brand's ‘Rideology' app, which offers a host of information to the rider.

The Ninja 650 uses the same engine as its naked sibling, with a different state of tune. The 646cc parallel-twin engine produces a peak power of 66.4bhp at 8000rpm and a peak torque of 64Nm at 6700rpm. We expect the sports tourer to have an improved mid-range torque output in its BS6 format.

Apart from the aforementioned changes, both the BS6 motorcycle will carry forward other mechanicals from the older-gen motorcycles. The suspension duties on the motorcycles will be handled by telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock setup at the rear. Braking on the motorcycles will be done through petal discs at both ends supported by dual-channel ABS.

The 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 650 BS6 will be offered in two colours options — Lime Green Ebony and Pearl Flat Stardust White. While the Z650 BS6 will get a single Metallic Spark Black paint scheme. The deliveries of both the motorcycles are expected to begin soon after the Covid-19 lockdown is lifted.
