Indian Motorcycle To Launch BS6 Compliant Models Closer To The End Of The Year
American motorcycle manufacturer, Indian Motorcycle, has said that it will be ready to launch its BS6 range of motorcycles only closer to the end of the year.
According to Autocar India, the brand has no BS6 compliant motorcycles to offer since the 1 April deadline. The Polaris owned manufacturer also said they are unable to set a deadline given the current Covid-19 situation.
Mr Lalit Sharma, the Head of Polaris India said that a timeline is hard to define because of the global uncertainty, however the Scout range of motorcycles would be the first lot of BS6 bikes that will be launched in the country.
The brand currently sells its Scout, FTR, Chief, and Chieftain range of motorcycles in India. The manufacturer's full line-up of vehicles are powered by V-Twin engines.
The company is a niche brand in the country, and all of its motorcycles are imported as completely built units, and are sold via a limited number of dealers.
The brand is satisfied with the market performance of Indian Motorcycle in the domestic market. The brand also said it had no plans to set up a local assembly facility in the foreseeable future.
In Indian Motorcycle related news, the brand recently launched ClimaCommand Classic Seats for its Chief, Chieftain, and Roadmaster motorcycles.
The new seats have been designed for long distance touring, and arrives with heating and cooling functions. The seat uses a thermoelectric module and a graphene structure to heat or cool the rider and pillion seats at the touch of a button.
These new seats are available only for the brand's American markets at the moment, and are priced at USD 1,200 (roughly Rs 91,000 plus taxes). There is no information about the ClimaCommand Classic Seats coming to India at the moment. To more, click here.
Thoughts About Indian Motorcycles Launching BS6 Compliant Motorcycles Closer to December This Year
This isn't surprising considering all the motorcycles are manufactured in the United States before being shipped to India. Given the current Covid-19 situation across the US, one can expect Indian Motorcycle to launch BS6 motorcycles during the first quarter of 2021.
