Indian FTR Carbon And FTR Rally Listed On Company's India Website — India Launch Soon?
Indian Motorcycles unveiled the FTR Carbon globally a few days ago. The FTR Carbon is now the flagship model in the FTR range and as the name suggests, the motorcycle gets a bunch of new carbon fibre body panels. As far as the design and the powerplant goes, the motorcycle remains unchanged.
The Indian FTR Carbon has recently been listed on the Indian Motorcycle India's website along with the Indian FTR Rally edition, which suggests that these bikes could be launched in the Indian market sometime in the future.
Speaking about the India FTR Carbon, the motorcycle gets a front fender, headlamp nacelle, fuel tank, airbox covers, passenger seat cowl all made of carbon fibre material. It also gets a new shotgun-style Titanium Akrapovic cover and an 'FTR Carbon' brand plate on the fuel tank. Mechanically, the motorcycle is powered by the 1203 cc, V-twin engine that produces 119bhp of power and 120Nm of peak torque and is mated to a six-speed gearbox.
On the other hand, the FTR Rally which has been listed on the India website of Indian Motorcycles looks more like a scrambler than a flat-track motorcycle. It gets features such as a ProTaper handlebar which is 50 mm higher, alloy wheels wrapped in knobby Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres, a new Titanium smoke paint scheme along with a brown seat, giving the motorcycle a stripped out retro look. As far as the engine is concerned, the FTR Rally uses the same 1203 cc, V-twin engine. Power and torque figures also remain the same.
We do not have any idea of when the company will be launching these two motorcycles in the Indian market. Also, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all the new launches have been postponed. The FTR Carbon and the FTR Rally are also expected to launch in limited numbers for India. Currently, the FTR 1200 S and FTR 1200 Race Replica are available in the market with a price tag of Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 17.99 lakh, respectively. Both prices are ex-showroom (India).
Thoughts About the New Offerings By Indian Motorcycles
The Indian FTR 1200 series has been inspired by the iconic FTR 750 Scout flat-track race bike. The FTR Carbon and the Rally will have no direct rivals in the Indian market, however, it will go up against the likes of the BMW Nine T Scrambler and the Triumph Scrambler in India.
