Honda CB300R Unlisted From Website: BS6 Model Expected To Arrive Soon?
Honda has unlisted its entry-level premium motorcycle the CB300R from its website in the Indian market. The motorcycle was sold under the Honda's BigWing premium motorcycle dealerships and retailed at Rs Rs 2.41 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi).
The CB300R is one among the first neo-retro streetfighter motorcycle in the Indian market. It was brought in by Honda via (CKD) Completely Knock Down units. As a result, it had a relatively higher price tag as compared to its rivals.
Honda received an incredible response during the launch of the motorcycle with the first 500 units sold out in two months of its arrival in the Indian market. However, the CB300R never received a BS6 updated and now it has been taken off from the website listing.
This move from the Japanese automaker could also mean that the company is preparing the launch of BS6 motorcycle soon. We are yet to receive an official update on the future plans with the CB300R in the country.
Speaking about the motorcycle itself, the design of the CB300R appealed to a diverse audience with its mix of old-school round-shaped headlamps with and a modern LED technology. Apart from this, the motorcycle also featured a simple design with up-right rider ergonomics.
It also features a muscular-looking fuel tank, a fully-digital instrument cluster, a USD front forks, a mono-shock setup at the rear, disc brakes at both ends supported by a dual-channel ABS as standard, and a stubby exhaust.
The CB300R used a diamond frame and housed a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 286cc engine producing a maximum of 31.4bhp at 8000rpm and a peak torque of 27Nm at 6500rpm. The engine came mated to a standard six-speed gearbox.
The Honda CB300R has many rivals in the Indian market. While its primary segment rivals are the Mahindra Mojo, the BMW G310R and the TVS Apache 310R, the motorcycle also has to fend off competition from the Bajaj Dominar, the Yamaha R3 and the KTM390 because of its steep price tag.
According to earlier reports, the company could be planning local manufacturing of the motorcycle. This will certainly help bring down the hefty price tag by a large margin, which will help increase the demand for CB300R in the country.
In addition to this, the brand's premium motorcycle line-up in India will receive a host of new models. Honda will bring a total of four twin-cylinder 500cc motorcycles to the country. This includes the CMX500 Reber cruiser, CB500F naked, CBR500R faired and CB500X adventure-tourer motorcycles — here are more details.
Thoughts About The Honda CB300R Unlisted From Website
The Honda CB300R is one of a kind offering in the 300cc segment in the market. The motorcycle was well-received in the Indian market. However, the company is yet to confirm its plan with the BS6 model. If the CB300R gets manufactured locally, we can expect a massive price cut when launched in the market.
