Honda Activa 6G Vs Honda Activa 5G Comparison: Here Are All The Significant Differences!
Honda Motorcycles & Scooters India (HMSI) launched the Activa 6G in the Indian market recently. The new Honda Activa 6G is offered with a starting price of Rs 63,912, ex-showroom (Delhi) and is offered in a range of two variants.
The new Honda Activa 6G now comes with a host of new features and design changes over the previous-generation Activa 5G in the Indian market. The new Honda Activa 6G will continue to rival the likes of the Hero Pleasure Plus 110 and the TVS Jupiter in the Indian market.

The Honda Activa scooter was first introduced in the Indian market back in 2001. Since its launch, the Activa has dominated the scooter segment in the Indian market, consistently ranking as the best-selling model in the country. The Honda Activa 6G is the latest iteration of this and here are some of the differences between the 6G and the previous Activa 5G model.

Design
The Honda Activa 6G comes with subtle changes to its design, compared to the Activa 5G. This includes a slightly redesigned front apron which has now become sleeker than before.
The side panels remain almost identical with very little changes while the rear receives a set of slightly larger taillights. However, the main noticeable character at the rear is the presence of an external fuel filler cap.

While all this doesn't qualify as significant updates, the new Honda Activa 6G does look much more modern and offers a more premium appeal.

Dimensions
The Honda Activa 6G has grown in terms of dimensions compared to the Activa 5G model. The Activa 6G is now longer, narrower and taller than the previous-generation model, while also having a larger wheelbase and best-in-class ground clearance as well.

Talking specifics, the new Honda Activa 6G is 72mm longer, 13mm narrower and 2mm taller than the Activa 5G model. The wheelbase is longer by 22mm while the ground clearance measures 171mm.

Engine Specifications
The new Honda Activa 6G uses a BS6-compliant version of the same 109cc engine which also powered the Activa 5G. However, with the emissions updates, power figures on the Activa 6G have dropped very slightly.
The 109cc single-cylinder engine on the Honda Activa 6G produces 7.8bhp and 8.8Nm of peak torque. This is just 0.2bhp and 0.2Nm of torque less than what the BS4 engine on the Activa 5G produced.

However, with the BS6 engine being more refined Honda claims that the mileage on the Activa 6G has improved by 10% over that of the Activa 5G.
The Honda Activa 5G offered a fuel efficiency figure of around 60km/l, hence we can estimate that the mileage on the Activa 6G could be in the range of around 65 - 68km/l. The new engine on the Honda Activa 6G now also comes with the brand's PGM-Fi technology.

Features
Honda has offered the Activa 6G with a number of new features. Some of the features on the new Activa 6G include multi-function buttons such as pass and engine start/stop switches, external fuel filler cap, larger 12-inch wheels at the front and a three-way adjustable suspension setup at the rear; all of which were not available on the previous-generation Activa 5G model.

Other features on the new Activa 6G include a larger 18-litre under-seat storage and disc brakes at the front on the top-spec deluxe variant.
Apart from the above-mentioned features, the new scooter continues to carry forward the brand's HET technology, combi-braking system, telescopic forks for the front suspension from the previous model and LED headlamps with LED DRLs.

Price & Availability
The Honda Activa 6G is offered with a starting price of Rs 63,912. This is almost Rs 8,000 costlier than the Activa 5G model, which was offered with a price tag of Rs 57,557. All prices are ex-showroom (Delhi).

Honda has confirmed that the production of the Activa 6G has already begun, with deliveries set to start from end-January or early-February. However, the current model — Activa 5G will be available till the end of March 2020, with dealerships selling off the models left in their stock.

Thoughts On The Honda Activa 6G Vs Honda Activa 5G
The differences and updates made to the Honda Activa 6G compared to the Activa 5G might not be very significant. However, the subtle changes made does offer a more modern and refreshed look to the country's best-selling scooter. We do recommend everyone to go-ahead and purchase the Activa 6G instead of the outgoing model.
