Hero Xpulse 200 BS6 Power & Torque Figures Revealed: Becomes Less Powerful
Hero Xpulse 200 BS6 power and torque figures are revealed ahead of launch. The Xpulse 200 BS6 model now makes lesser power than the BS4 models. The company has revealed the power figures on their official website ahead of its launch.
The Xpulse 200 model is part of the company's ‘X' family which shared the same engine. The entry-level adventure motorcycle is powered by the same 199.6cc engine, which powered the older BS4 models. The engine is now updated to meet the BS6 emission standards and now features air/oil-cooling and fuel injection as standard.
The BS6 engine now produces a maximum power of 17.8bhp at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 16.4Nm at 6,400rpm. The motorcycle has lost on power and torque figures after the engine as compared to the BS4 models producing 18.1bhp at 8,000rpm and 17.1Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. The engine will continue to come mated to a five-speed gearbox.
The Hero Xpulse 200 BS6 motorcycle also becomes heavier as compared to its predecessor after the update. It is now three kilograms heavier — weighing in at 157 kilograms, compared to the BS4 model's 154 kilos.
Apart from that, the position of the exhaust pipe has been changed on the BS6 models. The header pipe is now directed downwards and goes under the engine and back up to the muffler. The engine belly-pan has also been redesigned to make room for the new exhaust piping. Whether this could affect the motorcycle's ground clearance remains to be seen.
Other mechanical components and features remain unchanged from the previous model. The Xpulse 200 will continue to feature 37mm long-travel telescopic forks at the front, and 10-step adjustable mono-shock at the rear. The Braking duties are handled by 276mm petal disc at the front, and a 220mm petal disc brake at the rear supported by single-channel ABS.
The Hero Xpulse 200 BS6 will continue to feature full-LED headlamps, wide off-road biased rear-view mirrors, up-swept exhaust, knuckle guards, and dual-purpose tyres. It also features a fully-digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and more. Hero Motocorp is expected to continue offering the Rally Kit for the Xpulse 200 BS6.
In related news, Hero Motocorp has unlisted three of their motorcycle from their website. The Hero Xpulse 200T, the Hero Xtreme 200R & 200S have been discontinued from the Indian market — here are more details.
Thoughts About The Hero Xpulse 200 BS6 Power & Torque Figures Revealed
The Hero Xpulse 200 is a capable entry-level adventure motorcycle that has a cult following thanks its predecessor, the Hero Impulse. However, both the motorcycle didn't offer much in terms of performance. The BS6 model produces lesser power and is heavier than the BS4 motorcycle. Losing on performance with the upgrade is not something that the Hero Xpulse could afford.
