Delhi based auto manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp has announced that it presented 100 Hero scooters (the Destini 125 and the Maestro Edge 125) to women police officers posted at the Gorakhpur Police Department in Uttar Pradesh. The presentation is in sync with the brand's commitment to promote women empowerment in the country.

The Chief Minister of the State of Uttar Pradesh, Sri Yogi Adinath flagged off the rally of the 100 scooters. Equipped with GPS systems, sirens, flash lights, public announcement systems, pepper spray, and other police accessories, the scooters will help women cops who are a part of a special Sherni Dasta squad that are deployed for patrolling duties.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, the brand has launched Project Sakhi in association with the police departments. The aim of the initiative is to enable women police officers by providing them two-wheelers to increase independent and squad mobility.

In Hero MotoCorp related news, the brand recently announced an increase in the price of its Hero Destini range of scooters. Available in two variants - the LX and the VX, the scooters are now more expensive by Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,300, respectively, making them available for Rs 65,310 and Rs 68,100. Prices mentioned are ex-showroom, Delhi.
