Hero MotoCorp Doubles Covid-19 Relief Efforts: Distributes 5,000 Litres Of Hand Sanitizers

Chennai based motorcycle manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp, has announced that it has begun manufacturing and distribution of hand sanitizers as part of its relief efforts to fight Covid-19. The company has begun distributing the sanitizers to medical personnel and to the general masses.

Hero has already distributed over 5,000 litres of hand sanitizer as part of its new initiative. Manufacturing and bottling of the sanitizers are being catered by the company's production facilities that are usually busy with manufacturing two and three wheelers.

Hero announced that select employees from its production units and its Corporate Social Responsibility division have been involved in manufacturing and distribution of the sanitizers, and that guidelines laid down by the Indian Council of Medical Research are being implemented in the processes.

The company has also developed 60 first responder mobile ambulances that will be handed over to the government for use in rural and remote areas of the country. In addition, Hero has donated over 2,000 motorcycles to various authorities across the country for use in relief efforts.

Canteen kitchens at Hero's manufacturing facilities have been involved in preparation and distribution of meals for communities surrounding the facilities.

The company has distributed over three lakh meals, and continues to distribute over 15,000 meals on a daily basis to the migrant workforce, daily wage workers, and homeless families in several areas of the Delhi-NCR region, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, and Gujarat.

Hero MotoCorp has also distributed over 6,000 ration kits in the states of Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Kerala, and at Delhi. Hero plans to keep the initiative running for the foreseeable future.

The Hero Group has committed an amount of Rs 100 crore in aid for the ongoing fight against the Covid-19 virus that is beginning to spread in India. Rs 50 crore has been contributed to the PM Cares Fund, while the remaining Rs 50 crore is being spent on other relief efforts and initiatives.

The company also announced that the BML Munjal University at Dharuhera, Haryana (run by the Hero Group) has offered its 2,000 bed hostel for use as isolation and treatment wards to the local health departments.
