Coronavirus Pandemic: Hero MotoCorp Donates 60 First-Responder Mobile Ambulance Across India

Hero MotoCorp, the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer has announced a donation of 60 first-responder mobile ambulances across India. The mobile ambulances will be donated to various authorities across India and used in the fight against COVID-19.

The mobile ambulances are essentially Hero MotoCorp motorcycles with an engine capacity of 150cc and above. These motorcycles have been further been accessorised with all the necessary emergency equipment and aids required. This includes sleeping arrangement, basic medical equipment, oxygen cylinder, first-aid kit, fire extinguisher and a siren.

The aim of the utilitarian mobile ambulance is to be able to reach out to patients in rural and remote areas. The two-wheeler ambulance from Hero MotoCorp will also be able to transfer patients to the nearest hospitals as well.

The Hero Group has also announced a donation of Rs 100 crore towards relief funds in India to fight against the deadly virus. From the total amount, Rs 50 crore will be contributed to the PM-CARES Fund, while the remaining amount will be donated to other relief funds across India.

Hero Group also runs the BML Munjal Hospital in Dharuhera, Haryana. This hospital has offered its hostel, consisting of 2000-beds to be used for treatment and isolation wards by the local health department.

Hero MotoCorp have also started another initiative to offer meals to daily-wage workers and labourers. The company is said to be offering over 15,000 meals everyday to homeless families across various states including Haryana, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Delhi-NCR.

Hero Motocorp was also one of the first companies to announce that they would be buying back all unsold BS4 stock from its dealerships across India. This announcement came at the end of March, ahead of the new BS6 emission regulations implementation in the country — here are the details.
