According to Zigwheels, BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS BS6 models will be launched between August and September this year. The entry-level models are expected to get cheaper and greener with the upcoming BS6 format.

BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS are the entry-level street-naked and adventure touring motorcycles from the brand's Indian line-up, respectively. Both the motorcycles are due for BS6 update from the manufacturer.

Apart from an updated engine, the updated models are expected to be priced cheaper by around Rs 75,000 when launched in India. The BS4 models of the BMW G 310 R retailed at Rs 2.99 lakh, while the G 310 GS was priced at Rs 3.49 lakh. With the expected price cut, both models are expected to be priced competitively against its rivals in the segment.

Both the BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS will feature an updated BS6-compliant engine. We expect the upcoming German motorcycles to feature the reworked BS6 Apache RR 310 BS6 engine.

The updated engine from TVS has reduced vibrations, which was prominent in the BS4 Apache RR 310 models. TVS has still managed to offer the same power and torque figures as before.

The 312cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine will continue to produce 34bhp at 9,700rpm and 28Nm of peak torque at 7,700rpm paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. Apart from an updated engine, the BS6 models are expected to feature the slipper-clutch as standard.

Apart from the aforementioned changes, both the motorcycles will continue to feature upside-down forks at the front, and a mono-shock suspension at the rear. Braking duties on the motorcycle are handled by disc brakes at both ends supported with dual-channel ABS.

The BMW G 310 R rivals the KTM Duke 390, and the Honda CB 300R; among others in the country. While the BMW G 310 GS primary rivals the Royal Enfiled Himalayan. However, buyers in the segment will also look at the less powerful Hero Xpulse 200, and the KTM Adventure 390, which comes feature-packed and offer maximum performance in the entry-level adventure motorcycle segment in India.
