Bajaj Triumph Motorcycle To Be Introduced by 2022: No Delays Expected Due To Covid-19
Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle to be introduced by 2022, as per the initial announcement from both brands. Both brands have entered into a strategic partnership to develop middleweight-segment motorcycles that will be sold in Indian and international markets.
Speaking to carandbike, Shoeb Farooq, Business Head, Triumph Motorcycles India confirmed that the development of the upcoming motorcycles has not been affected due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in the country, and is very much on track.
Both brands have already announced their partnership plans back in August 2017. However, Bajaj Auto and Triumph Motorcycles have formally signed a non-equity global partnership to manufacture a new range of mid-capacity motorcycles in the country.
Under the new partnership, Baja and Triumph aims to develop a slew motorcycles ranging between 200cc to 700cc segment. The newly developed motorcycles are expected to be branded and developed by Triumph for the world, while Bajaj will handle the manufacturing proceedings.
Mr Farooq stated that the new partnership will favour both brands to expand their reach to the customers. The Indian market is currently looking for motorcycles between 200cc and 700cc, and the brand's aims to cater to this growing demand which helps cement both brands globally.
Bajaj and Triumph have maintained discretion about the kind of products the partnership will develop going forward. However, the company did confirm some of the motorcycles that are under development in a variety of segments. There have been speculations about some of the motorcycles that are being developed under the partnership. These include smaller capacity formats of the Triumph Tiger, the Daytona, and the Bonneville.
Most of these speculations might turn out to be true as it will open up the brand to a wider customer base, especially in the emerging markets including India, South East Asia, Latin America, and drive growth in mature markets like Europe.
The upcoming motorcycle will look and feel like a Triumph, however, with Bajaj manufacturing these motorcycles it is expected to offer value for money with a lower price tag. These motorcycles will be sold in Triumph showrooms that will help attract more customers to the brand because of its entry-level price point. Being a motorcycle sold under Triumph, the products are expected to offer top-notch performance and riding dynamics with a host of electronic rider aids as well.
The strategic partnership will also help Triumph to reach more countries as Bajaj become a key distribution partner for the brand in crucial new markets. Bajaj will also take over Triumph's distribution activities in India in future. The Indian two-wheeler company had exported as much as 40% of their production last year.
A total of two-million vehicles out of five million was exported in 2018 which includes motorcycles and three-wheelers. The brand had exported their models which includes Pulsars, Dominars and the KTMs to over 79 countries.
In related news, Bajaj Chetak electric scooter phase-wise launch throughout other cities in the country has been delayed due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in the country. The electric scooters are available in Pune and Bengaluru and it will be sometime before it reaches other cities in the country — here are all details.
Thoughts About The Bajaj Triumph Motorcycle To Be Introduced by 2022 With No Delays
The partnership between both brands has created a lot of buzz, especially in the Indian market. Unlike the Bajaj-KTM partnership which already had a sense of what people could expect, the partnership between the Indian and British motorcycle manufacturers are all nothing but speculations. Triumph does not make motorcycles below 650cc and Bajaj does not have motorcycles above 500cc, so it will be interesting to see what will be the new motorcycles that will be launching in the Indian and international markets by 2022.
