Bajaj Auto Limited recently launched the new Platina 100 disc brake with (ES) Electric Start in the Indian market. The new top-of-the-line variant of the commuter motorcycle retails at Rs 60,698, ex-showroom (Delhi).
The new motorcycle variant has started to arrive at dealerships across the country. Images posted by Ganesh Bajaj reveals two motorcycles that are being delivered to customers as well. It is available in two paints schemes: red and black.
The company is also offering the Platina in two other trims: the ES alloy with drum brakes and the (KS) Kick Start alloy. These motorcycles are priced at Rs 58,477 and Rs 50,464, ex-showroom (Delhi), respectively.
Speaking about the motorcycle itself, the BS6 Platina 100 features few upgrades over the previous model including an all-new engine. The Platina 100 is powered by an air-cooled, single-cylinder, e-carburated 102cc engine.
It produces a maximum of 7.77bhp at 7500rpm and 8.34Nm of peak torque at 5500rpm. The engine comes mated to a standard four-speed gearbox. Apart from the updated engine, it also features subtle design and feature updates.
The Bajaj Platina 100 BS6 model features a new tinted windscreen as compared to the colour-matched cowl on the BS4 model. The LED DRL is also placed closer to the headlamp making for a cleaner looking front end.
In addition to this, the BS6 model also features a new ribbed-pattern seat borrowed from its elder sibling, the Platina 110 H-Gear. It also features an updated suspension setup with 28 per cent longer travel at the front and 22 per cent longer travel at the rear.
Suspension duties on the new motorcycle are handled by a telescopic unit at the front with 135 mm travel, and the brand's ‘SNS' twin-shock unit at the rear with 110mm travel. Braking on the motorcycle is done via 240mm disc brakes at the front, and 110mm drum brake at the rear, supported with a combined braking system.
The Platina 100 is known for its exceptional fuel-efficiency and the company claims the motorcycle to return a mileage of 90km/l. Couple the mileage with an 11-litre fuel tank on the motorcycle, it gives it a riding range of 990 kilometres between trips to the petrol pump.

The Bajaj Platina 100 is among the most affordable commuter motorcycle in the Indian market. It is an ideal motorcycle for urban commuted with exceptionally low running and maintenance costs. Unlike its rivals, the Platina receives only an electronic-carburettor instead of a fuel-injection system with ECM.
