Bajaj Platina 100 BS6 Launched With Minor Updates: Prices Start At Rs 47,763
Bajaj Auto has launched the Platina 100 BS6 in Indian market with minor upgrades. The commuter motorcycle is sold in two variants with prices starting at Rs 47,763, ex-showroom (Delhi).
The BS6 Platina 100 is available in the (KS) Kick-Start and the top-spec (ES) Electric-Start trim. The Bajaj Platina 100 ES retails at a starting price of Rs 55,546, ex-showroom (Delhi). The commuter motorcycle features few upgrades over the previous model including an all-new engine.
The Platina 100 is powered by an air-cooled, single-cylinder, fuel injected 102cc engine. It produces 7.5bhp of power and 8.34Nm of torque, and comes mated to a standard four-speed gearbox.
Apart from the updated engine, Bajaj has also subtly tweaked the Platina 100 BS6 to set it apart from the previous model. The commuter motorcycle now features a new tinted windscreen as compared to the colour-matched cowl on the BS4 model. The LED DRL is also placed closer to the headlamp making for a cleaner looking fascia.
Additionally, the Bajaj Platina 100 BS6 also features a new, ribbed-pattern seat borrowed from its elder sibling, the Platina 110 H-Gear. The new motorcycle features a 28 per cent longer front and 22 per cent longer rear suspension setup, respectively.
The cycle parts on the 100cc motorcycle include a hydraulic telescopic suspension at the front with 135 mm travel, and the brand's ‘SNS' suspension at the rear with 110mm travel. Anchoring on the motorcycle is done via 130mm drum brakes at the front, and a 110mm drum brake setup at the rear, supported with a combined braking system for additional safety.
The motorcycle is known for its exceptional fuel-efficiency and the company claims the Platina 100 returns a mileage of 90km/l. With a 11-litre fuel tank on the motorcycle that gives it a riding range of 990 kilometer between trips to the petrol pump. As a result, the Platina 100 motorcycle is a popular motorcycle in rural areas for its simple design and excellent fuel-economy.
In related news, Bajaj has extended the warranty period of its motorcycles due to the on-going Covid-19 pandemic in the country. Bajaj two-wheeler owners who have warranty and free service periods that expire between 20 March and 31 May will now get an extension — here are more details.
