Bajaj Discover 110 & 125 Commuter Motorcycles Discontinued In India
Bajaj Auto has discontinued their Discover range of motorcycles in the Indian market. The Bajaj Discover 125 & 110 motorcycles have not been updated to meet BS6 emission standards.
The Discover nameplate is one among the oldest in the company's line-up. The motorcycle was in production for 16 years, and was offered in different configurations and formats.
The Discover range of motorcycles was an affordable option in the brand's line-up. Over the years the motorcycle was sold in different formats including the Discover 100, the Discover 135, and the Discover 150 as well.
The Discover models featured engines with the brand's DTSi twin-spark technology and latest hardware. The ‘SNS' rear suspension on the models offered a plush and stable ride. Bajaj has manufactured and sold over 30 variants of the Discover models in the country.
News of the models being discontinued also brings to mind a TVC wherein the Discover was put through its paces on the high altitude Ladakh region. The advert shows a rider and the pillion on the motorcycle riding around on rough terrain — showcasing ruggedness and dependability.
Outside of being simple in design, the Discover range of motorcycles were known for their unmatched fuel efficiency. The Discover 100 featured a claimed mileage of 100 kilometres per litre. This was showcased in the brand's advert wherein the motorcycle covered a distance of roughly 100 kilometres between Khalsi and Magnetic Hill in Ladakh*.
The Discover 110 and 125 models were powered by a 115.4cc and a 124.5cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engines, respectively. The 115.4cc engine produced 8.4bhp and 9.81Nm of torque, and came mated to a four-speed gearbox, while the 124.5cc engine produced 10.7bhp and 11Nm of torque, and mated to a five-speed gearbox.
While Bajaj has discontinued the Discover models in India, the company still exports it to international markets where BS4 emission norms are still existent.
In related news, Bajaj has updated its entire Pulsar range to meet BS6 emission standards. The Pulsar 180F is one among the models that have received the update with a BS6 compliant engine — here are more details.
*Khalsi to Magnetic Hill, Ladhak — the distance between measured at roughly 100 kilometres until the early 2010's. The current distance measures in at 68 kilometres meaning the Discover can travel much further than it did when the TVC was produced.
Thoughts About The Bajaj Discover 125 & 110 Motorcycles Discontinued In India
The Discover range was one of the brand's best sellers in India. The motorcycle received several updates and design revisions over the years. It was popular among a youger audience because of its fancy graphics, unmatched fuel efficiency, and an almost maintenance-free engine. We hope Bajaj resurrect the Discover moniker at some point in the future. As is, we bid adieu, but we most certainly would like to RE-Discover.
