Bajaj Avenger 160 & Avenger 220 Prices Increased: Street 160 Crosses Rs 1 Lakh Mark

The Bajaj Avenger Street 160 receives a price hike of Rs 5,203. After the latest price increase, the brand entry-level cruiser motorcycle, the Avenger Street 160 prices now cross Rs 1 lakh mark and now retails at Rs 1,01,094 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

On the other hand, its elder sibling the Avenger Cruise 220 has now received a price hike of Rs 2,457 and retails at Rs 1,22,630 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company has not added any new features to the motorcycle and remains the same.

We are yet to hear from Bajaj Auto regarding the continuous price increase on its cruiser motorcycle range in the country. However, we expect the reason behind the price increase to be due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the recent shift to BS6 emission norms.

The Bajaj Avenger range of motorcycles offers comfortable and relaxed riding ergonomics, a long and well-cushioned single-seat, forward-mounted footpegs, and a raised & wide handle-bar.

The flagship Avenger Cruise motorcycle is powered by an air/oil-cooled 220cc engine. It produces a maximum of 19bhp at 8500rpm and a peak torque of 17.5Nm paired to a five-speed gearbox.

On the other hand, the Avenger Street 160 entry-level cruiser motorcycle is powered by an air-cooled 160cc engine. It produces a maximum of 15bhp at 8500rpm and a peak torque of 13.7Nm paired to a five-speed gearbox.

Suspension duties on the Avenger motorcycles are handled by a telescopic fork at the front and twin-shock absorbers at the rear. Braking is done via disc brake at the front, and drum brake setup at the rear, supported by single-channel ABS on both motorcycles.

The top-spec Avenger Cruise features a highway mile muncher design along with tall windscreen, raised-handlebars, well-cushioned seats, and a host of trim pieces finished in chrome including the exhaust.

However, the entry-level 160cc motorcycle features sort of an urban-cruiser look. It features round headlamps, an instrument cluster, alloy wheels, and a blacked-out paint scheme with red highlights on the fuel tank and side panels.

Bajaj Auto has increased the prices of its cruiser motorcycle for the third time after BS6 update in the Indian market. Despite its third price increase, the Avenger Street 160 is the cheapest cruiser motorcycle currently on sale in the Indian market.
