Aprilia SR 125 Model To Be Discontinued In India: Here Is Why!
Italian two-wheeler manufacturer, Aprilia, currently sells a host of scooters in the India market raining between 125cc and 160cc. The current 125cc line-up includes two model the SR 125 and the Storm.
According to the latest reports from Zigwheels, Aprilia plans to discontinue the SR 125 scooter in the Indian market. The decision will be made to remove the scooter from the Indian market due to the negligible price difference SR 125 and Storm model.
Prices for the SR 125 and the Strom starts at Rs 87,082 and 92,602, respectively. It is Rs 5,520 expensive than the Storm model. Additionally, the company has recently launched a new variant disc variant of the Storm priced at Rs 95,148. All prices mentioned are (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The report also suggests that the company might keep the ‘SR' name to top-spec models, which would add a touch of exclusivity and premium-ness to the scooter. While the 125cc segment will be carried by the Storm model for the brand.
The Aprilia SR 125 is currently offered in a couple of variants: one with the analogue instrument console and another with a digital instrument console. Apart from the changes in the instrument cluster, there are no other differences between the variants.
The SR 125 is powered by an updated 125cc single-cylinder engine. It produces a maximum of 9.8bhp at 7750rpm and peak torque of 9.7Nm at 6,000rpm. The engine also features fuel-injection technology.
At the front, the scooter feature twin headlamps setup mounted on the apron. While the turn-signal indicators are mounted on the handlebar cowl. The SR 125 features an aggressive and sleek looking design appealing to the younger-generation buyers.
Suspension duties on the scooter are handled by telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock setup at the rear. Braking on the scooter is done via a disc brake setup at the front and a drum brake setup at the rear. The scooter features (CBS) combined-braking system as well.
The SR 125 feature 12-inch alloy wheels shod with tubeless tyres giving the scooter impressive handling capabilities. However, Aprilia SR 125 is the most expensive 125cc scooter in the Indian market.
Thoughts About The Aprilia SR 125 Model To Be Discontinued In India
Aprilia is yet to officially confirm about the news of SR 125 getting discontinued in the Indian market. Considering the price difference between the SR 125 and the Storm (Disc Variant) is negligible, it makes sense to keep the ‘SR' branding reserved for powerful models such as the Aprilia SR 160.
