Yamaha FZ-25 & Fazer-25 Motorcycles Recalled In India: Over 13,000 Bikes Affected
Yamaha India has recalled two of its motorcycles in the Indian market, the FZ-25 and the Fazer 25. The recall has affected 13,348 motorcycles combined. This includes 12,640 units of the FZ-25 and 728 units of the Fazer-25.
According to the statement released by Yamaha Motors India, all FZ-25 and Fazer-25 models manufactured from June 2018 have been affected. The reason for the recall is a loosening of the head cover bolt on both the motorcycles.
Taking into account the safety of their customers, Yamaha has called for a precautionary recall of both models in the market, with immediate effect. Both motorcycles will be serviced free of cost to the customer. According to the statement, the issue is minor, requiring just a small amount of time to sort it out.
Yamaha will individually contact owners of affected vehicles to immediately fix the issue. The company is working closely with their service dealership network to ensure the issue is fixed in an efficient and quick manner. Customers can also directly contact their authorised service dealers to check if their motorcycle is affected.
Yamaha is currently working on updating its entire product lineup to comply with the upcoming BS-VI emission norms. The company just recently launched the BS-VI compliant FZ and FZ-S Fi models in the Indian market.
Yamaha had announced that it will start updating its product lineup from November 2019. The brand aims to have all its models BS-VI compliant well ahead of the April 1st 2020 deadline. The company will be introducing the BS-VI compliant versions of their Fascino scooter and the popular YZF-R15 V3.0 motorcycle next month.
Coming back to the Yamaha FZ-25 and the Fazer-25, both motorcycles are powered by the same 249cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine. It produces 20bhp and 20Nm of peak torque, mated to a five-speed constant-mesh gearbox.
Thoughts On The Yamaha BIkes Recalled In India
The Yamaha FZ25 and Fazer 25 are popular offerings in the Indian 250cc motorcycle segment. Both motorcycles are yet to receive the BS-VI update, although it is expected to come soon.
The Yamaha FZ25 and Fazer 25 rival the likes of the Suzuki Gixxer 250, Gixxer SF and KTM Duke 250 in the Indian market.
