Vespa ZX 125 With Combi Braking System Spotted At Dealership — Replaces LX125

Italian scooter marque Vespa has started updating its lineup of scooters with the new combi-braking systems. Bikewale has spotted a brand new model in the Vespa lineup at a dership. The publication claims that new Vespa ZX 125 will replace the LX125 in the Italian scooter marque's lineup in India.

The Bikewale article claims that prices for the new ZX 125 start at Rs 77,481 ex-showroom. Unlike the LX125 it replaces, the new ZX 125 is also offered with the option of a front disc brake. The ZX 125 with the disc brake is priced at a more premium Rs 81,981, ex-showroom.

Other than the new disc brake option and the combi-braking system, the new ZX 125 is totally identical to the scooter it replaces. The new ZX 125 is powered by a 125cc, carburetted single-cylinder engine which kicks out 9.76bhp and 10.6Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a CVT automatic gearbox. The new Vespa ZX 125 is BS-IV compliant and is expected to be updated to BS-VI with the rest of the lineup before the stricter norms go into effect on the first of April, 2020. There are reports that suggest the BS-VI Vespa lineup could make use of fuel-injection to comply with the new emission norms.

Taking care of the rough stuff that the Vespa ZX 125 will have to endure on Indian roads is an airplane-inspired single side arm hydraulic front suspension with Anti-dive characteristics and a hydraulic shock absorber at the rear. The Vespa ZX 125 like the other scooters in the lineup features a monocoque steel body which the Italian marque claims provides better balance, rigidity, and stability.

The Vespa ZX 125 sits on 10-inch wheels that are shod with 90/100-10 tubed tyres. Braking duties on the base variant are handled by 150 mm (front) and 140 mm (rear) drum brakes. The higher-spec model features a disc brake which should be the same 200mm ventilated unit found on higher-priced Vespa models that bear the SXL and VXL badges. The Vespa ZX 125 is a premium offering in the 125cc scooter segment in India where it competes with the likes of the Honda Grazia, Suzuki Access 125, TVS Ntorq 125 and the Hero Destini 125.
