TVS Launches Bluetooth-Enabled Apache RTR 200 4V With SmartXonnect* Technology
Chennai based TVS Motors has announced that the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V now comes equipped with a Bluetooth connected cluster. The Apache features TVS' SmartXonnect* technology. The motorcycle also features an information control switch, and a racing chain finished in gold.
The Bluetooth-enabled TVS SmartXonnect technology that is featured on the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V can be paired with the TVS Connect App. The app is available for both Android and iOS devices. The application brings with it multiple features including navigation, race telemetry, a tour mode, a lean angle mode, crash alert, and call / SMS notifications.
The Lean Angle Mode uses the gyroscopic sensor on the owners phone to record the rider's lean angle through corners and displays it on the instrument cluster. The Race Telemetry records and summarises data at the end of every ride or race.
The Crash Alert System triggers when the on-board sensors senses a fall. The system automatically activates the crash alert mode, and notifies the rider's emergency contacts about the location of the fall/ accident — all within within 180 seconds.
The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is powered by a 197.75cc single-cylinder engine that produces 20.7bhp of power and 18.1Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a five-speed transmission.
The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V features a linear power delivery that is well suited for city riding. The motorcycle also features telescopic forks at the front, and a KYB mono-shock suspension set up at the rear.
Braking duties are handled by a 270mm petal disc at the front and a 240mm petal disc at the rear. The Apache RTR 200 4V comes with tubeless tyres and features a 12-litre fuel tank. The motorcycle is priced at Rs 1.14 lakh (ex-showroom, India), and will be available in Black and White.
Thoughts About The New Connected Instrument Cluster
We are impressed with what TVS has brought to the instrument cluster, but we think there was really no need for the Lean Angle Mode at all. We expect a lot of ‘falls' will be a result of the rider wanting to look at the lean angle while in a corner. This is a feature that should be accessible only after the rider has finished this ride. Yes, we understand that it is built more for track than for street, but we're sure TVS knows that most folk in India cannot afford track time.
