Triumph Unveils The Rocket III R and GT Siblings — India Launch Expected 2020
Triumph Motorcycles has finally unveiled production-spec versions of the Rocket III. The motorcycle is available in two variants - the R and the GT. The Rocket III R is the roadster variant and the Rocket III GT is more touring bias.
Both motorcycles however, feature power-cruiser designs which is almost at the other end of the design spectrum of the current-generation Rocket III. The Rocket III R and GT siblings feature twin LED-headlamps, shorter rear ends with integrated tail lamps, and twin-slash cut exhausts - all in sync with Triumph's new design language.
Both the Triumph Rocket III R and the Triumph Rocket III GT feature different components that set them apart. The most noticeable difference is that the GT features forward-mount foot pegs while the R model sports mid-mounts.
The Rocket III R features a flat handlebar while the Rocket III GT features a touring-style handlebar that is built for longer distance comfort. The GT also sports a taller fly-screen, adjustable pillion foot pegs, heated grips, and a more comfortable seat. It also arrives with a pillion backrest and chrome alloys.
Both the Rocket III siblings are powered by a new 2.5-litre, inline three-cylinder engine that produces 165bhp of power and 221Nm of torque. Impressively, the Rocket III R and Rocket III GT are nearly 40kg lighter than the model that is currently available.
Both motorcycles feature fully adjustable 47mm upside-down forks at the front, and a remote pre-load adjustable mono-shock at the rear - all Showa built.
Braking duties are handled by Brembo calipers with twin 320mm discs at the front, and a single 300mm disc at the rear. Triumph has loaded the Rocket III R and Rocket III GT with a Bluetooth-enabled full colour TFT instrument cluster. The motorcycles feature four riding modes, a traction control system, cornering ABS, and hill-hold control.
Triumph Motorcycles have planned to globally launch the motorcycles at the 2019 EICMA, however, we expect the motors to arrive in India during the first quarter of 2020. The only competition we see is the Ducati Diavel 1260, as of now.
There in no official information about what colours and at what price the Rocket III R and GT siblings will retail, but we expect the motorcycles to be priced between Rs 25 lakh and Rs 29 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
Thoughts About The Rocket III R And GT Siblings
Both these motorcycles look fantastic and we're sure Triumph has pulled all stops. We are looking forward to the global launch and definitely looking forward to the bikes launching in India.
P.S. Why is it called a global launch when an India launch is happening later? We guess India is basically from a different planet. Or a planet on its own. Either or.
