Triumph Launching BS-VI Compliant Motorcycles In December — A Cleaner Christmas Gift!
Triumph Motorcycles is on top of its game. The British brand has announced that it will launch BS-VI compliant motorcycles by December 2019. This was confirmed by Mr. Shoeb Farooq during the recent launch of the 2019 Triumph Speed Twin.
According to carandbike.com, while speaking about the timelines for the BS-VI complaint motorcycles, Mr. Farooq said, "The good part this time with this transition is that the timelines are very clear, and every manufacturer has a decent amount of time to manage the whole transition. So, we have also put specifics together, and I think around December 2019, we'll start supplying our BS6 variants into the market, and post that we'll be changing the whole range to BS6."
Triumph offers one of the largest range of premium motorcycles in India. It has 14 motorcycles in the current line up, not including the to-be-launched Triumph Scrambler 1200. Triumph is currently working towards finishing existing stock before launching the BS-VI fleets.
Mr. Farooq said, "We have to ensure that all our stocks are liquidated by March 31. So, that's what we are all working for. We are working backwards from March 31 and trying to see what kind of stocks are required. So, we would like to sell till March 31, but we don't want to have a situation where we are left with more than required stocks, either with us or the dealerships."
Moving from BS-IV compliance to BS-VI compliance is a complex process that requires large investments from manufacturers. This is the reason why a lot of manufacturers in India are planning to upgrade engines of their most successful motorcycles and phase out poor performers.
This is not the case with Triumph at all. When asked if the company has similar plans, Mr. Farooq said, "I foresee the entire line up going into BS6. There may be a time gap between certain models and variants for which you might have to wait a couple of months extra, but 100 per cent line up is going to go into BS6, over a period of time."
Triumph said that it will have five consecutive launches during the first half of this year alone. The company has already launched four models — the 2019 Street Twin, the 2019 Street Scrambler, the Tiger XCA, and the most recent one, the Speed Twin. The fifth, that will be launched next month is the 2019 Scrambler 1200.
Thoughts About Triumph Launching BS-VI Compliant Motorcycles By December
Totally on top of the game. This is good new. Triumph is one of the few manufacturers that have set this deadline for themselves. It will interesting to see what difference the BS-VI makes to performance and what Triumph does about it.
