Triumph To Manufacture Electric Motorcycles — Announces Project Triumph TE-1
Triumph Motorcycles has planned to equip its future motorcycles with an electric powertrain, and has entered a unique collaboration to achieve their goal. The British motorcycle manufacturer, known for its high-performance bikes, has partnered with Williams Advanced Engineering, WMG at Warwick University, and Integral Powertrain Ltd. to co-work on a project titled Project Triumph TE-1.
The project is aimed at developing electric motorcycle technology that will be used on all Triumph's motorcycles in future.
When asked about the collaboration, Nick Bloor, CEO, Triumph Motorcycles, said, "This new collaboration represents an exciting opportunity for Triumph and its partners to be leaders in the technology that will enable the electrification of motorcycles, which is driven by customers striving to reduce their environmental impact, combined with the desire for more economical transportation, and changing legislation."
"Project Triumph TE-1 is one part of out electric motorcycle strategy, focused on delivering what riders want and expect from their Triumph, which is the perfect balance of handling, performance and usability," he added.
Triumph Motorcycles will act as project leaders and will provide designs for motorcycle chassis and also provide motorcycle related technical expertise. The motorcycle maker will also be responsible for defining the performance specifications for the electric drive-train.

The target set for completion of Project Triumph TE-1 is two years. The collaboration will employ a modular approach, meaning that individually developed components will be combined to form the electric drive-train. Project Triumph TE-1 is being funded by Innovate UK, a government agency responsible for promoting science and technology programs in the United Kingdom.
Thoughts About Project Triumph TE-1
This sounds like a dream project. Bring four companies together, assign specific tasks, and build a bad-ass electric power-train. Sweet! It will fun to ride a Triumph with an all-electric power-train. We can't imagine it so at least we'll go testing the motorcycle without any presumptions. When it launches in India of course.
