Suzuki Gixxer 250 Engine Specs Revealed — Is It Enough For A Quarter Litre?
The Suzuki Gixxer 250 is scheduled for a 20 May 2019 launch. From the teaser photographs we know that the motorcycle will feature aggressive styling, like most quarter litre class motorcycles.
According to Rushlane, the Suzuki Gixxer 250 features a full faring but there could be a street-fighter variant that will be launched soon. The teaser also shows that the motorcycle features a shield shaped headlight cluster that could possible house LED elements. The motorcycle will feature a fully digital display, split seats, a fat rear tyre and clip-on handlebars.
The motorcycle will feature a conventional telescopic front fork set up and a mono-shock at the rear. While not much else is known about the Gixxer 250, we know that the engine is a single-cylinder liquid cooled unit and comes mated to a 6-speed transmission. The engine is said to produce 26.5bhp of power. ABS will be offered as a standard.
Suzuki may use the same set of chassis from the Gixxer 150 twins and share other components in order to keep costs low and offer competitive pricing. Once launched the motorcycle will compete with the Yamaha Fazer 25, the KTM RC200, the CBR250R, and the TVS Apache RR310. The motorcycle will be available in three colour options — Blue, Grey, and Silver.
The last quarter litre class motorcycle Suzuki launched in India was the Inazuma 250. The motorcycle failed because it was pricey. If Suzuki prices the new Gixxer 250 at about the Rs 1.35 lakh mark, the motorcycle will be a very strong entry-level contender.
Thoughts About The Suzuki Gixxer 250
Suzuki is finally entering the quarter litre segment. This is possibly one of the hottest selling segments and is currently dominated by the Honda CBR250R. Pricing will play the most important role if Suzuki want a piece of the pie.
Having said that, the new Suzuki Gixxer 250 looks gorgeous. We hope it performs as nice as it looks. With the motorcycle launching on 20 May, it's just a matter of time before we have one of these machines to test ride.
