Royal Enfield Upgrading 650 Twins Rear Suspension — Get Your Upgrade Now

According to GaadiWaadi, Royal Enfield has been upgrading the rear suspension system on the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. While there has been no official recall, Royal Enfield has received complaints about the rear suspension units, and owners are now receiving the upgrades as a voluntary service.

While the design of the motorcycles expected for the motorcycles to feature a rubber buffer set up with the rear suspension, the first lot of the Royal Enfield 650 Twins did not. Owners of 'first lot' motorcycles can get this upgrade at any authorized service station.

Royal Enfield started 2019 on a brilliant note. The Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 collectively crossed 5,000 unit sales in first 4 months and the Interceptor 650 stands as the preferred motor between the two. Thankfully RE is fixing the problem on the first lot of these machines as soon as possible.

Both the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 feature a 648cc parallel twin-cylinder air/oil cooled engine that produces 47bhp of power @ 7,250rpm and 52Nm of torque @ 5,250rpm. The engine is mated to 6-speed manual transmission. The motorcycles also feature a slipper clutch as standard.

Both the Royal Enfield 650 Twins are built on a double cradle steel tubular chassis developed by United Kingdom based Harris Performance, and they have several commonalities to streamline the production operations and reduce cost.

Royal Enfield offers 40 different customization add ons for the motorcycles. While the motorcycles feature a three year standard manufacturer warranty, the 40 customization items are available with a two year manufacturer warranty.

The Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 have helped Royal Enfield enter the mid-segment markets and also given them a chance to rival premium brands like Harley-Davidson and Triumph.

Prices for the The Interceptor 650 range between Rs 2.50 lakh and Rs 2.71 lakh, ex-showroom (India). The motorcycle is available in 6 different colour options — Silver Spectre, Ravishing Red, Orange Crush, Baker Express White & Red, Glitter & Dust Chrome and Mark Three Black.

Thoughts About Royal Enfield Upgrading Rear Suspension On The 650 Twins

Good to see Royal Enfield paying more attention to their customers. There was a time (before the second generation Himalayan 401) that the company paid no attention to complaints from owners of their motorcycles. Also good to see RE addressing problems and complaints as fast as they are right now.
