Royal Enfield Unveils 650cc Flat Track Motorcycle: Features And Details
Chennai based motorcycle manufacturer, Royal Enfield, has just unveiled a flat-track motorcycle that is based on the Interceptor and Continental GT 650 twins. The motorcycle was showcased at the company's technical center in the United Kingdom.
The custom flat-tracker features minimalistic body work, custom handlebars and foot pegs. The chassis has been redesigned and the flat-tracker features a swingarm built by Harris Performance.
The suspension set up at the front are the stock telescopic forks that are featured on the Interceptor 650. The suspension at the rear however, have been replaced with an Ohlins mono-shock, The custom flat-tracker features larger 19-inch wheels and dual-sport tyres.
Royal Enfield's custom built flat-tracker features an S&S built Big Bore Kit that push the engine displacement to 750cc. While performance numbers have not been revealed, the engine has definitely been tuned to offer more than what Royal Enfield's stock 650 twins offer.
The 650 flat-tracker is only a concept for now, and there is high possibility it will not go into production. However, there is also the possibility that Royal Enfield will fire up its own professional Flat-Track Racing Team.
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 motorcycles are powered by a 648cc twin-cylinder, air/oil cooled engine that produces 47bhp of power and 52Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. The motorcycles are priced between Rs 2.56 lakh and Rs 2.93 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
In related news, Royal Enfield unveiled the FT411 Flat-Track motorcycle at Rider Mania 2019. The FT411 is build using the company's Himalayan motorcycle The FT411 has been built by United States based S&S Cycles.
The FT411 features a high mounted exhaust, a light weight carbon-fiber seat, 18-inch spoke rims, and a sprocket system designed for flat-track racing. The 650 Flat-Tracker looks like it means business. We're really interested in performance figures for the motorcycle, and we're sure Royal Enfield has tested the motor too! Some where we're hoping they invest in, and run a professional flat-track racing team.
