Royal Enfield Launches Scale Models Of Classic 500 Series — Most Affordable Royal Enfield Yet!

The last decade has seen Royal Enfield grow from a small player to a commanding force in the global middleweight motorcycle segments. The brand created an identity as a classic and retro motorcycle maker and a lifestyle brand that deals with merchandise, accessories, riding gear, and events. Adding to the ever-growing fleet, Royal Enfield has launched scale models for it's Classic series.

RE scale

The new collectible range features the Royal Enfield Classic 500 (black) and the Desert Storm. The 1:12 scale models are manufactured by Maisto. Maisto is known for their scale replicas of cars and motorcycles. This is the first set of scale models that Royal Enfield has on offer.

The scale models built by Maisto measure 17.5cm in length, 6.5cm in breadth, and 10.5cm in height. The scale models look highly detailed and the motorcycles feature moving parts - the handlebar, the stand the rear shock absorbers. The motorcycle also features moving rear view mirrors. The weight of the motorcycles stand at 250 grams, making it the lightest Royal Enfield in production.

Desert Storm

The scale models are priced at Rs 1,200 (on-road). Bookings can be made over the Royal Enfield website and RE promises deliveries starting in May 2019 (fastest delivery ever we think).

The Royal Enfield Classic series was launched in 2008. The models were inspired by the Royal Enfield G Model from the 1940s. The Classic series truly turned the company around and Royal Enfield has never looked back since. The Classic 350 is the most popular model in the series.

Classic 500

We're not sure about the scale models, but the Royal Enfield Classic 500 series features a 499cc air-cooled fuel injected single-cylinder engine that produces 27.2bhp @ 5,250rpm and 41.3Nm of torque @ 4,000rpm. The engine is mated to 5-speed manual transmission.

The Classic 500 is available in three paint schemes - the Classic Silver, the Classic Black, and the Classic Tan. The Classic 500 is priced at Rs 1.9 lakh ex-showroom, India.

RE Desert Storm

Royal Enfield is currently dominating the middleweight segment with its 650 twins - the Interceptor 650, and the Continental GT 650. Both these machines have opened doors for Royal Enfield in the heavyweight cruiser category, and there is talk of an 838cc Royal Enfield coming at some point.

Thoughts About The Scale Models Of The Classic 500

All bikers love scale models. There were scale models of imported motorcycles available when we were kids and very very few scale models of motorcycles produced domestically. Royal Enfield could have made this move earlier but hey! they're here now. More importantly, this will be Royal Enfield's cheapest model in production. We've book two of these beauties and can't wait for delivery!
