Royal Enfield Himalayan Sales In July: Registers 99% Growth With 1619 Units Of Sales

Royal Enfield's off-road bias motorcycle, the Himalyan, has registered a 99 per cent growth in July 2019. The number of units sold stood at 1,619, as compared to the 811 units sold in July 2018.

The 99 per cent growth factor is seen as per (Y-o-Y) Year-on-Year basis. However, sales for the Himalayan have shown a 32 per cent growth on a (M-o-M) Month-on-Month basis as well. Those are impressive numbers considering the slowdown in the auto industry.

Apart from the Himalayan, the 650 twins have also posted good sales numbers. The 650 twins have registered a growth of 27 per cent on a (M-o-M) Month-on-Month basis. In June 2019, the company sold 1,751 units of the 650 twins as compared to the 2,225 units sold in July 2019.

The company's best-selling Classic 350 model has recorded a 33 per cent decline in sales for the month of July. Royal Enfield sold 33,790 units in July 2019 as compared to the 44,054 units sold in July 2018.

The Bullet 350, which is the company's second-best seller, registered a 17 per cent decline in sales. Royal Enfield sold 10,442 units in July 2018 as compared to the 10,000 units in July 2019.

Other models have registered a decline in sales as well. The Thunderbird 350 and 500 models registered a 27 per cent, and an 83 per cent decline in sales respectively. Overall, the company has seen a 27 per cent decline with 49,182 units sold in July 2019 as compared to the 67,001 units sold in July 2018.

Although sales have been up for some models, Royal Enfield has been hit by the slowdown in the auto industry. The company is currently working on upgrading their entire fleet to BS-VI compliance.

The Himalayan had a rough start with the multitude of issues with the motorcycle. Royal Enfield has since listened to it's customers and implemented as many changes as possible. The current-generation Himalayan is impressive, performs well, and definitely deserves this growth.

Although the Himalayan was introduced to cater to the niche off-road market, it caught the attention of every other motorist. With its comfortable riding posture and rugged looks, the motorcycle is bound to grow to it's absolute sales potential.
