Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 Model To Receive New Features: India Launch Expected Soon
Royal Enfield is currently working on updating the Himalayan model to comply with the BS-VI emission regulations. The Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 model is expected to launch in India sometime in January 2020.
Ahead of its launch in India, GaadiWaadi has reported that the BS-VI compliant Himalayan will receive two new features with the update. These features include a switchable ABS and a Hazard switch.
Along with the two additional features, Royal Enfield will also introduce the Himalayan in a range of new colour schemes, including some dual-tone colours.
The dual-tone paint scheme on the Royal Enfield Himalayan was showcased at the recently concluded 2019 EICMA event. Some of the dual-tone colour schemes include Red/Black and Blue/White. There will also be a new single-tone Grey paint scheme on offer as well.
However, Royal Enfield is yet to confirm the arrival of these colour schemes on the updated version in India Apart from the paint scheme and the additional features, Royal Enfield might also introduce new accessories to the Himalayan. These include panniers and handguards, among others.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is expected to carry forward the same 411cc engine, which will be updated to comply with the new emission regulations. This 411cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine currently produces24.5bhp and 32Nm of peak torque. It is further paired with a five-speed gearbox.
The suspension of the Himalayan is through telescopic fork at the front with 200mm of travel and a mono-shock at the rear with 180mm of travel. Braking on the motorcycle is handled by a single 300mm disc upfront and a 240mm disc at the rear; supported by dual-channel ABS as standard.
The 2020 Royal Enfield Himalayan is expected to carry forward the same design as the current model. However, we can expect certain minor changes, updates as well. The Himalayan is one of the most popular entry-level adventure-tourer offerings in the Indian market, although it did come with its share of issues initially.
Thoughts On The Royal Enfield Himalayan BS-VI
The Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 model is expected to go on sale in India sometime early next year. We expect Royal Enfield to hike the prices of the Himalayan by around Rs 10,000 for the updated BS-VI compliant model. The Himalayan will continue to rival the likes of the BMW G 310 GS in the Indian market.
