Royal Enfield Adopts Dry Wash System — Saves Chennai 18 Lakh Litres Of Water
Chennai is in the middle of a severe water crisis and auto manufacturers are making a note. In a move that aims to reduce the use of water to wash and clean motorcycles, Royal Enfield has announced a shift to motorcycle dry wash systems across the 20 service stations they have in the city.
Royal Enfield says that adopting this system will help save roughly 18 lakh liters of water every month. The city of Chennai needs about 800 millions of litres of water on a monthly basis, but the public water board has been able to supply only 525 million liters thanks to the acute shortage.
Royal Enfield is the first two-wheeler manufacturer to create a balance between enhanced customer experiences and environmental sustainability.
Speaking about the adoption of this policy, Mr Shaji Koshy, Head India Business, Royal Enfield said, "This initiative by Royal Enfield is a part of our long-standing commitment to ensure best in class customer experience. All our initiatives such as dry wash, paperless service etc. are crafted to enhance this experience. The situation in Chennai has allowed us to innovate and bring efficiencies in our own operations which is always the objective."
"Chennai is Royal Enfield's 'bastion market and we are fully committed to doing our bit in the time of this adversity by adopting a firm alternative. Dry wash is a great technological advancement which reduces water consumption without compromising on wash quality and lessens the servicing time per vehicle. We have piloted this initiative in Chennai owing to the water scarcity situation and we plan to take this to other cities in Tamil Nadu as well in the near future." he added.
The dry wash system uses comparatively lesser quantities of water and still achieves the same quality of cleaning. Royal Enfield says that the final wash quality will be at par with traditional methods, but will save a lot of water that can be used to support the citizens of Chennai.
Royal Enfield is the oldest motorcycle brand in continuous production, and has built the mid-sized motorcycle segment in India with its modern classic motorcycles. The company is fast becoming an important player in the global mid-size motorcycle market, and is working towards re-inventing this space with motorcycles that are engaging and fun to ride.
Royal Enfield's motorcycle line-up includes the newly launched Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650, the Classic series, the Thunderbird series, and the purpose-built Himalayan 410. Royal Enfield has an extensive service network across the country with over 900 workshops across over 600 towns and cities.
Thoughts About Royal Enfield Adopting Dry Wash Systems
This is a fantastic initiative by Royal Enfield. Adopting dry wash systems are the smartest thing manufacturers can add to their service stations. Royal Enfield shows us that they care about their customers, their customer's motorcycles, and care about the environment. We hope they adopt the dry wash systems across the country, and we hope that other manufacturers follow suit. Respect!
