Royal Enfield 650-Twins Waiting Period Crosses 5 Months — Production To Be Increased

Royal Enfield launched their 650-twins (Continental GT 650 & Interceptor 650) in the Indian market in November 2018. The two motorcycles have been gaining increasing demand in both the Indian and global markets.

Now, both 650cc motorcycle offerings demand a waiting period of four to six months. According to Royal Enfield there is more demand for the Interceptor 650 than the Continental GT 650, however, both offerings still come with the same waiting period.

To reduce the waiting period of the Royal Enfield 650-twins, the Chennai-based brand is said to be ramping up its production numbers. Currently, Royal Enfield manufactures around 2,500 units of the motorcycles per month, this is said to soon increase to around 4,000 to 5,000 units.

This will help Royal Enfield bring down the waiting period for both motorcycles in the Indian market, significantly. The two Royal Enfield 650cc motorcycle offerings are also exported to countries such as US, US, Thailand and Australia.

Royal Enfield is also planning to set up a manufacturing plant in Thailand, to further cater to the increasing demand in the international market. The plant in Thailand will get CKD units of the two motorcycles and is scheduled to start assembly later this year.
