Royal Enfield 650 Twins’ Waiting Period To Come Down Soon; Production To Be Doubled

Royal Enfield 650 Twins: Waiting period of 650cc Royal Enfield twins (Continental GT & Interceptor 650) to come down. Waiting period is currently 3 months.

Royal Enfield launched the new Interceptor and Continental GT 650 at a competitive starting price of Rs 2.50 lakh and 2.64 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi). The new 650 Twins are the brand's first 'modern' twin-cylinder motorcycles and have received immense feedback from the market.

However, due to the overwhelming demand, the usual waiting periods for the Royal Enfield 650cc motorcycles are nothing short of at least three months. Now, the British-origin motorcycle company in India has confirmed that the waiting periods will drop significantly as production will be doubled by the end of March 2019.

Royal Enfield will increase the production rate to 4500-5000 units per month from the current 2000-2500 units. On the other hand, deliveries for the 650 Twins have not even crossed 500 units a month; the reason why you do not see many examples on the road.

Those who've got the motorcycles delivered are happy with their ownership experience. The maintenance or service cost for the 650 Twins is much lower than that for any other motorcycle sold in India with more than one cylinder in the engine — check out the first-service cost of Royal Enfield's 650cc motorcycles.

The main highlight of the new Royal Enfield 650cc motorcycles is their high value for money. Before their launch, the Indian motorcycle community couldn't even imagine getting a twin-cylinder motorcycle under Rs 3.5 lakh (on-road). In spite of being relatively affordable, the 650 Twins do not have that many shortcomings either.

Both the Royal Enfield Interceptor and Continental GT 650 are powered by the same 649cc air/oil-cooled parallel-twin engine. The unit makes 47bhp and 52Nm of torque while mated to a six-speed transmission; further assisted by a slipper clutch as standard. The motorcycles get dual-channel ABS as well.

Thanks to the excellent pricing strategy and the value for money showcased in turn, the Royal Enfield Interceptor and Continental GT have created a market of their own.

Thoughts On The Royal Enfield 650 Twins

As mentioned before, the new 650cc Royal Enfield Interceptor and Continental GT are two of the most desirable premium motorcycles available at a relatively affordable price tag. With production facilities getting revamped soon, the waiting periods will come down by a good margin; thereby improving the sales figures. What do you think of the new Royal Enfield 650 Twins?
