Royal Enfield 650-Twins Sales Overtakes Himalayan — Demand For 650-Twins On The Rise!

Royal Enfield launched the 650-twins (Continental GT 650 & Interceptor 650) in the Indian market recently. The two 650cc motorcycles are available in the Indian market with a price of Rs 2.50 lakh for the Interceptor 650 and Rs 2.65 lakh for the Continental GT 650. Both prices are ex-showroom (Delhi).

Ever since its launch in the Indian market, the Royal Enfield 650-twins has been gaining a steady increase in its sales in the country. Now recent sales reports showcase that the 650-twins have overtaken the sales of the Himalayan.

According to the monthly sales report from the brand, the Royal Enfield 650-twins has managed to record sales of 2,427 units in the month of May 2019. This is almost double the sales of the Himalayan, which recorded just 1,192 units in the same month.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan was introduced in the Indian market quite a while back and was one of the first affordable adventure-tourer offerings in the market. However, soon after its launch, the Himalayan's sales dropped due to various reports regarding several issues on the motorcycle.

Over time, Royal Enfield has addressed all the issues, however sales of the adventure-tourer offering hasn't improved since. The Royal Enfield Himalayan comes powered by a 411cc air-cooled single-cylinder producing 25bhp and 32Nm of peak torque. It is further mated to a five-speed gearbox.

The Royal Enfield 650-Twins on the other hand is one of the most affordable 650cc motorcycles in the Indian market. The 650-twins are powered by a 649cc liquid/oil-cooled parallel-twin engine. It produces 47bhp and 52Nm of torque; mated to a six-speed gearbox.

The Royal Enfield 650-Twins are both available in a range of colour options to choose from. This includes multiple vibrant colours, offering a more youthful and premium appeal to the motorcycles. In terms of features, the 650-Twins come equipped with dual-channel ABS, Bosch Fuel-Injection & Engine Management and Pirelli Phantom SportComp Tyres.

Thoughts On The Royal Enfield 650-Twins Sales

The Royal Enfield 650-Twins are the most affordable motorcycles in the segment in the Indian market. The 650cc motorcycles from Royal Enfield rival the likes of the Harley-Davidson Street 750 and the Street Rod in India.
