Royal Enfield 650-Twins Sales In July Registers More Than The Combined Sales Of Its Rivals
Royal Enfield 650-Twins sales in July 2019 has overtaken the combined sales of its rivals in the segment. The Royal Enfield 650-Twins sales registered 2,265 units of sales in July, while the combined sales of its rivals including the KTM Duke 390, Bajaj Dominar 400 and the TVS Apache RR310 added up to just 1,946 units.
The Royal Enfield 650-Twins consist of the Interceptor and the Continental GT were launched in the market back in November 2018. The two motorcycles are among the most affordable offerings in the Indian middle-weight 650cc segment.
Since their launch in the market, the RE 650-twins have been received extremely well, bringing in good sales month-on-month for the Chennai-based manufacturer. The Bajaj Dominar 400, KTM Duke 390 and the TVS Apache RR310 although a segment lower, are still priced relatively similar to the 650-twins in the country.
However, even though the motorcycles are popular in India, they haven't been able to replicate the sales of the 650-twins in the Indian market. The KTM Duke 390 sales in July stood at just 346 units; the TVS Apache RR310 sales were also similar, recording just 246 units last month. The Bajaj Dominar 400 did however, fair better in July, registering 1,363 units. This brings their combined sales number to 1,946 units for July 2019, still 319 units behind the 650-twins.
The Royal Enfield 650-Twins (Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650) are powered by the same 649cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine. It produces 47bhp and 52Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed gearbox.
The two 650cc motorcycles from Royal Enfield are priced at Rs 2.50 lakh and Rs 2.65 lakh for the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650, respectively. In comparison, the KTM Duke 390 is priced at Rs 2.47 lakh; the Bajaj Dominar 400 is priced at Rs 1.80 lakh and the TVS Apache RR310 is offered with a price tag of Rs 2.23 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
