Royal Enfield To Hike Prices Of The 650-Twins By Around Rs 10,000 Soon
Royal Enfield is said to be increasing prices of its flagship 650cc motorcycles in the Indian market soon. The two motorcycles: Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 could see a hike in prices by around Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 in the Indian market very soon.
Although, the company is yet to make any official announcement for the same, many reports suggest that the price hike will be implemented on the 650-twins from the start of September 2019.
The Chennai-based bike manufacturer launched the 650-twins in the Indian market back in November 2018. Since then the two motorcycles have performed extremely well in the Indian market, bringing in a good number of sales for Royal Enfield.
The two motorcycles bring in roughly 2000 units of sales for the brand month-on-month. This makes them the best-selling motorcycles in the middle-weight 650cc segment.
The Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 has also eaten away some of the sales even from the lower 300 to 400cc segment, including the likes of the KTM Duke 390 and the Bajaj Dominar 400, mainly due to its competitive pricing in the market.
The two motorcycles from Royal Enfield are powered by the same 649cc parallel-twin oil-cooled engine. It produces 47bhp and 52Nm of torque; mated to a six-speed gearbox. The motorcycles come standard with a dual-channel ABS system, 41mm telescopic forks at the front and a dual-suspension set-up at the rear.
Royal Enfield is currently testing the BS-VI version of the 650cc engine on the two motorcycles. The Royal Enfield BS-VI compliant Continental GT 650 has been spied testing recently in the Indian market. The new motorcycle was seen with minimal visual updates — here are the details.
Apart from the flagship 650-twins, Royal Enfield also recently launched its most affordable models in the Indian market. This came in the form of the Bullet 350X and 350X ES.
The two new motorcycles are available with a price tag starting at Rs 1.12 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi) — here are the launch details of the two new motorcycles.
Thoughts On The Royal Enfield 650-Twins Price Increase
The Royal Enfield 650-twins has been received extremely well in the Indian market since the time of its launch. There is still a lot of demand for the two motorcycles, with the waiting period going upwards of 2 months in many cities as well. The Royal Enfield 650-twins comes with a starting price of Rs 2.50 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi) and rivals the likes of the Harley-Davidson Street 750 and the Street Rod.
