Revolt RV 400 Electric Motorcycle Revealed — India’s First AI-Enabled Motorcycle
Revolt Motors has unveiled the RV 400 electric motorcycle for the Indian market. The Revolt RV 400 comes with several industry-first features and an attractive design and that makes it stand out in the Indian market. It is also the first electric motorcycle in the Indian market.
Prices for the Revolt RV 400 are yet to be revealed and the same is expected to be done at its launch next month. The Revolt RV 400 features a naked streetfighter design and curvaceous yet muscular styling. Up front is an LED headlamp with LED DRLs.
Also grabbing attention up front is the upside-down fork. Though there is no fuel tank as such, Revolt has added in that design element to help it blend in and to help its buyers make the transition from a petrol bike to an electric one.
It features a unique fairing that covers the entire battery and electric motor setup. There are ducts for air to pass through and cool the motor and battery pack. The design at the rear is quite unique as it features an aluminium swingarm and several a large belt-driven sprocket. At the rear is a simple LED tail lamp with stylish grab rails.
Part of the chassis painted in silver is exposed. The motorcycle rides on 8-spoke alloy wheels at the front and rear. It also gets disc brakes at the front and rear. Suspension duties are handled by a USD fork up front and a monoshock at the rear.
From the rider's point of view, the motorcycle looks very neat and it features an LCD display taking care of instrumentation. The key hole has been replaced by a power on/off button. Yes, it has keyless power and go and this is enabled by Revolt's smartphone app.
The smartphone app plays a big role in the Revolt's operation. The app uses artificial intelligence and processes data collected through a man-machine interface. The app adjusts to the rider's riding behaviour and the motorcycle is equipped with a 4G-enabled AI system.
Most of the vehicular functions can be controlled through the app. The Revolt RV 400 can be started using the app, it can be used to find nearby battery swapping stations and charging stations.
The app can also be used to order and pre-charged batteries which will then be delivered to the required location at a convenient time. The app also gets over-the-air updates that helps solve technical glitches in the motorcycle.
It also comes with geo-fencing, bike location with maps and navigation, real-time bike statistics like range and speed, all-time bike statistics like kilometres run, total hours run, etc. It also features the cound control option which allows the user to choose between different sounds that the RV 400 produces via a speaker.
The Revolt RV 400 is in itself a technologically advanced motorcycle. It is an electric motorcycle, but details of the battery capacity and motor output are yet to be revealed. It comes with both on-board charging as well as portable charging features. Using the portable charging feature, the motorcycle's battery can be removed and taken inside buildings and charged from a regular 15amp socket.
According to the company, it takes around 4 hours to fully charge the battery. Helping reduce the range anxiety are features like battery swap locator and home delivery of charged batteries. The Revolt RV 400 will be manufactured at Revolt's manufacturing facility at Manesar, Haryana. Phase 1 of the facility has a capacity of manufacturing 1,20,000 vehicles. Expansion can be undertaken as and when required.
Revolt is claiming an ARAI-certified range of 156 kilometres on one fully-charged battery. More information is yet to be revealed at an event next month and that includes the price at which the RV 400 will be sold. Pre-bookings though open on 25 June, 2019 for the NCR region. Other major metros in India will have to wait a little longer. The motorcycle can be pre-booked either on www.revoltmotors.com or on Amazon.in.
Rahul Sharma, the Founder and Chief Revolutionary Officer for Revolt Intellicorp said, "The RV 400 is the first step towards providing sustainable, affordable mobility to every Indian home. The RV 400 challenges every convention that riders have pertaining to electric vehicles — power, styling and aesthetics, range, battery charging infrastructure, security, sound and service.
Thoughts On Revolt RV 400 Electric Bike Revealed With AI Technology
The Revolt RV 400 brings to the table features we have never seen before on a motorcycle. It is the first electric motorcycle in India, it is the first to come with AI and app-based functionality. Adding to it all is the fact that it looks good. Now, it all hinges on the way the motorcycle will be priced and how Revolt handles after sales service.
